I know this is probably a really daft question but what do you wear during the birth?
Thanks

First, just a bra as was in pool
Second, DO's T-shirt
Third, actually no idea. Had emcs and cannot for the life of me remember what happened to my clothes Confused

Do not wear a giant fleece in the middle of July, I was so hot and had to be wrestled out of it while pushing.

No idea why I didn't take it off sooner!

Primark large mans t-shirt and woolly socks for both. Didn’t mind binning them after. Black baggy yoga style trousers for after (especially with DS2 as we left the hospital 2 hours after he was born so I didn’t get as far as pjs etc) .

As pp said whatever makes you comfortable. They’ll have seen it all. I’d have found being naked excruciating, but if that’s what you want to do, go with it!

Passthecake30 · 21/05/2019 18:33

Hospital gown for both, I wasn't really provided with a choice though both births were natural (with epidurals)

Spent early labour in knickers and a vest with a dressing gown over the top occasionally. When I transferred into hospital I got naked and basically refused to put any clothes on until I had a baby. People kept saying ‘oh I’ll just pop a sheet over you to preserve your modesty’ (I work there so I can totally see where they were coming from as I had colleagues coming in and out) but I was hot and didn’t give a shit. They eventually got me in a gown to go to theatre 😂

Hospital gown, why bother getting your stuff dirty!

Lunde · 21/05/2019 19:00

Swedish hospital gown both times - like a soft jersey nightshirt with buttons down the front.

Lost5stone · 21/05/2019 19:33

It wasn't a conscious decision but I ended up in a superman crop top and that's all

Abneyandteal19 · 21/05/2019 19:50

Primark standard nightie! About £4 each so not upset if you have to ditch them!! Bit old lady patterns but they have 3 or 4 buttons up the top part, I found them comfy to wear in late pregnancy at night (both summer babies) as well. If you look hard enough they normally have polka dots or stripes as opposed to the really old lady flowery patterns! Wink

I spent a good amount of money on 2 lovely night dresses that unbutton at the front to give birth in, got to hospital whipped my trousers off and gave birth in 30 mins just wearing the t-shirt I went in wearing 😂
Obviously that doesnt happen to all but just don't spend too much on something that will no doubt get messy and you might not even spend much time wearing 😁

NC4Now · 21/05/2019 20:12

I had a cheapo nightie, and thick socks. For some reason my feet got really cold in labour. The second time (home birth) I had socks put aside for giving birth 😂

canberramum · 21/05/2019 20:13

I started off wearing an oversized T-shirt but somewhere along the way decided I need to be naked as all clothes were annoying. Very unlike me but that's labour I guess.

xSharonNeedlesx · 21/05/2019 20:18

My xxl men’s Silence of the Lambs T-shirt that I normally wear as a nightie. Was just what I had on for dd1 when I got to hospital then wore it again for no2 as it was now my designated birthing top.

BelulahBlanca · 21/05/2019 20:23

A maternity nighty but clothes irritated me so I ended up doing it naked.

PBobs · 22/05/2019 07:07

I'll get given a hospital gown. Planning to wear a crop top type breast feeding bra underneath in case I can't be doing with the gown. I find they never fit right and flap about but maybe this one will be different.

NicciLovesSundays · 22/05/2019 12:14

A good few of my friends have told me they were naked.
