Hi
I had my 20 week scan and advised I didn’t want to know the sex of my first baby . We looked away at the part of examining the genitals , after that he referred to the baby as “she” before that point he said baby I’m sure . I didn’t question anything and from then on he refered to baby as “he or she” . Has he slipped up or this common for them to do ? I’m confused . Thanks in advance for any similar stories

I think if you have to ask the answer is no :)
I'd also assume she is the default

I also really don't want to know the birth. Various doctors and sonos have referred to mine as he and she! I think they use pronouns as it sounds nicer than it

No, they use he or she as it's better than it

Certainly sounds as though he might have slipped up there. Difficult to know for sure though.

At my first scan the sonographer referred to my baby as a he as she said she didn’t like using the term ‘it’ but it had no bearing on the sex as it was too early to tell but confirmed boy at 20w will never know if she saw something then or just called all babies he. Same as you will never know if your sonographer let it slip if your baby is a girl as they could just be saying girl rather than it. Either way it’s 50/50 Smile

My scans different sonographer each time call either she or he baby wasnt in position to tell us gender. We wanted to know but still referred to as he or she dependant on what sonographer was doing scan

Most people are bothered by referring to a baby as it which I find odd, doesn't bother me a bit but it does most people. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My sonographer said that she used ‘he’ and ‘she’ and we shouldn’t read anything into it.

My friend had a scan and they didn’t want to know the sex. The sonographer then used the term ‘phallic area’ and they thought they had given the game away. Nope, it was a girl!
