Confused by new and expectant mothers policy at work

Good morning. The policy above states that written notification of pregnancy as soon as you have received medical confirmation you are pregnant. Does this mean the scan?? As I know they won’t test your pregnant at the booking appointment. So until the scan you’re literally just relying on the tests!
I will ask on my booking appointment for sure as I don’t want to land myself In a position I’ve breached the policy and get in trouble! Xx

I think it means when you get your MATB1 form at 24 weeks.

What sort of job is it? I'm not sure thay can ask you to do that as you don't need to notify of pregnancy until 25 weeks (unless the type of job would require a risk assessment or so you could get time off for appointments or if you were having pregnancy related sick leave). A lot of people wouldn't want to say anything until after the first scan

Are you in the UK?
I'm pretty sure legally you don't have to tell your employer anything until 25 weeks (15 weeks from due date) although it'll be pretty clear you are pregnant by then.

Someone with more knowledge around contracts and business policy should be along soon, they'll probably correct me too, but I didn't want to read and run.

Medical confirmation would be the first scan.

I will need a risk assessment at work when I tell them but I want to wait until 12weeks because I want to be sure baby is ok and because in reality it’s going to suck once they do know because I’ll be stuck for the rest of my pregnancy on the boring jobs that make the evening go slow because you can’t be at height and I won’t be able to handle anything heavy - not that I do, I lift what is comfortable for me but even then I probably won’t be able to do that. So that’s pretty much half of my job gone even though I’m pregnant and would be able to do all my job safely if they let me but H&S won’t.

I work in a preschool and they do carry out risk assessments. I just know my scan will fall in work hours. I work 5 days a week between 8.30-3.30 and 6pm one day per week! I also know they will ask why I need the time off and I also know if I lie and then find out down the line I am pregnant they will be funny. I know what can’t be it’s just how they are. I may need to hold a meeting with both my manager and boss and hold them to the confidentiality policy big time as I don’t want it getting out until my children and close family knows. Thank you for replying xxx

It's illegal for them to insist on this. There isn't even any obvious reason (I.e. if you were working with dangerous chemicals) ...

Just say you have a hospital appointment you don't have to tell them what for! X
