Heart shaped uterus?

Hi I know I probably need to ask a doctor but I'm currently 37+4 and my baby is breech. Had one failed ECV and booked in for another next week but trying to decide whether to do it or go straight for an elective csection. One of the things I read is that you're more likely to have a breech baby if you have a heart shaped uterus. I seem to vaguely remember someone saying this to me really early on. Attached is an early scan - I think about 8 weeks. Has anyone got experience in this and could tell me if this looks heart shaped?

Just to add - I don't know if this image even shows my uterus as I'm awful at reading the scans but its the most zoomed out scan I have!

I have a heart shaped uterus but picked up when I miscarried at 9 weeks. It looks like the baby implanted in the horn. I was under the impression that breech is common and it wasn't advised to try to turn the baby in utero.

I'd chat with the doctor about next steps. Good luck x

You need to tell the doctor someone has told you that you have a bicornuate uterus, ECV should never be attempted when you have a heart shaped uterus.

Thanks both

@JuniperNarni My memory is so bad I'm not sure if I imagined this conversation or not hence the scan image in case that shows anything?

Anyway I did just ring them and think I'm going to cancel the second ECV and just go for an elective section as if baby didn't budge the first time it's even less likely it would work a second time! I've got to ring back Monday though to make an appointment with the doctor!

Were you actually told heart shaped uterus or that your pubic arch was small / not round? A bicornate uterus is serious business and will require a consultant referral — if that was the case it would have been spotted from your first scan.

I am a heart shape and none of my 3 were breech.

I have this and my children were delivered naturally, not breech and no consultant necessary. If they feel there’s a problem they’ll discuss it with you, but ultimately it’s your decision.

I've had scans as part of my fertility pre-tests and then with my miscarriage. My heart shaped uterus was only picked up in my 3rd scan @Teddybear45

Hope you get in with the doctor soon @stellarfox

Has anyone written anything in your notes about it? The “severity” can vary a lot from barely notice to an almost full septum between the two horns.

Mine is quite significant and written all over my notes. Both successful pregnancies have been breach and was advised that ECV was not safe or appropriate.

I’d go through what is written in your notes and ring midwife on Monday to discuss.

Thanks! I can’t see anything in my notes about it so maybe it’s just very minor if at all!
