Should I see a consultant?

Hello everyone,

I had a c section two years ago at Kingston Hospital. I'm currently pregnant (14 weeks) and have read on my notes that I'm midwife led.

Should I see a consultant? I had understood that everyone who had a previous c section was consultant led.

Also, I'd like to have a planned c section this time, but it has never been mentioned to me the Birth Options Clinic or something similar.

It depends on the reasons for the c-section or whether you had any complications afterwards (eg blood clots etc).

I'm consultant led this time having had an EMCS with twins previously but I'm consultant led because of my pre eclampsia (which led to me being induced and eventually given an EMCS) not purely because i had a section. They didn't discuss birth options with me until about 28 weeks which was the first time I met with the consultant.

That should read previous pre eclampsia, I don't have it this time.

Okay, that would make sense, my c section was due to failure to progress and fetal distress.

I have had a previous c section and I have been referred to the consultant and will see them at 14 and 34 weeks to discuss birth plans. It’s only birth that is higher risk not pregnancy and all my care has been from my midwife.
