I am only 5 weeks gone. Only found out a few days ago. I am over the moon and so is my OH but I am a little worried as I dont know what to expect with anything.
Any advice on anything would be amazing.

Something that I do want to know, is it safe to dye my hair? My hair is naturally fair and I dye it purple. It looks awful when I have left it a while. It's been a couple of months since I last dyed it and I was planning to do it next week before I found out about this. Would it still be safe to do?

I look forward to hearing everyones tips, ticks and advice Smile

First of congratulations! I'm first time mum to be so still lots questions. I dyed my hair when I was unaware of pregnancy I would of been 8 ish weeks. I'm now 21 weeks and very healthy baby. I'd suggest good ventilated area when dying.

It is safe to do your hair, but pregnancy can affect how your hair takes the dye. So it is possible to get slightly different results to what you normally get, although many women don't have a problem. I would obviously just do it in a well ventilated roon

The NHS website has lots of information on pregnancy and general guidance. Congratulations

Thank you to you both! Its helpful to know! Ill make sure I have opened the windows. I dont think I could go another 8 months without dying my hair.
Andrea91 Good luck with your little one! Glad everything is healthy :)

The NHS and baby centre UK websites have lots of great information and advice about pregnancy and then the actual baby part!
Start by taking folic acid if you're not doing already. Pregnacare is expensive but I take it just to fill in any gaps in my diet but the main vitamins you need is folic acid (for the first 3 months) and vitamin D, calcium and iron supplements are also recommended among others so it might be worth getting a combined pregnancy vitamin.
The NHS website has a good list of foods to avoid, a lot are worse case scenario but a lot of the time it's better to be safe than sorry and don't worry so much about the eggs advice on there as we don't have salmonella in UK eggs anymore.
A pregnancy app is also a great way to find out what to expect week in week out.
Good luck and enjoy! 😊

Congratulations Thanks my pregnancies are high risk so was advised no hair dye until 12 weeks, (colours were booked for 12+1 every time!) However friends with no issues dyed from 6 weeks no bother

I use the bounty app since I heard about it at my midwife appointment and got some useful information from there along with the website. You often hear there are lots you can't eat but I find most people aren't up to date with current guidance so ignore them and if in doubt use nhs website! Only things I would say are if you haven't already contact you gp or midwife unit to find out how to book your initial booking appointment Smile the appointment is all about your health history and current status so don't expect too much from it as it's very much an admin exercise!
