Baby behind placenta

Hi all,

22 weeks pregnant with my first baby girl due September
At my scan they told me she was behind my placenta, could this be why I'm not really showing yet? Also does this mean anything for the birth?

Thanks Smile

You mean the placenta is at the front of your uterus, against your front, rather than at the back? I also have this and the main impact I think is that it cushions the baby's movements and you might not feel them until a bit later, and might not feel them as strongly.

I don't know about this impacting showing, but no, as long as its high enough up that its not covering the cervix (they'd have said if it was as this can be quite a serious issue if it doesn't resolve) then it doesn't impact birth.

Its called an anterior placenta and if you search for that you'll find lots of info, mainly about feeling movements.

I had anterior last time and this time! The main "issue" is It cushions the movements. Mine was right across the centre so I felt nothing once baby went head down (from 28 weeks) which was stressful but if it's high or to the side you might find it's not an issue.

It shouldn't effect your showing but you beyond shows different baby 1 I didn't really have a bump until well in 30 weeks. Baby 2 I didn't start showing until about 24+ and this baby I'm showing before 18 weeks!

Doesn't effect delivery at all although it's low. Covering the cervix that can cause some issues but they would have told you if that was the case xx
