Showing at 19 weeks

Is it normal to be showing at 19 weeks? This is my first baby. I was 10st and I size 10/12 when I got pregnant, I've gained around 6lb but I have a really round kind of hard (not too hard, definitely not constipation) belly, my belly button has even protruded slightly... is this normal? I still fit into my normal clothes but they're definitely a lot tighter and it's very noticeable that I'm pregnant

I'm due 7th Oct, baby is measuring perfect size for the dates, his legs look so long on the scan 🙈 I'm feeling lots of stretching and pulling and getting stitch like pains.

Just worried what I've got is just weight gain and not a real bump

Anyone else show at 19 weeks with DC1?

X

Dunno about normal but I'm 25 weeks and I'd say I first started showing around the 19/20 week mark. Wasn't obvious to strangers but I and husband could finally see a bump forming, rather than the general waist thickening that had been occurring before that Smile

If you want to compare, here is me week 15, 20, 25

Honestly it just looks like you have gained a little more weight (no offence meant it’s natural!) - and your bump looks similarly in proportion to the rest of your body.

melissa1215 · 12/05/2019 22:49

@Kathryn19 I'm starting to think I've gained too much weight

@melissa1215 I'm sure you haven't! Everyone is different anyway. There is a pregnancy weight gain calculator you can look up online that gives a rough guide. But if it is all on your belly then I doubt it's just weight gain.

I was showing at about 9 weeks, not my first pregnancy thought. I feel huge now and only little over half way. Don’t compare your bump to others, your midwife will soon tell you if you are putting on too much extra weight. My MIL even helpfully keeps telling me it’s either definitely twins or I’m way further along than I think (I’ve had 4 scans now and measurement add up each time)

SleepingStandingUp · 13/05/2019 00:26

It's fine to be showing at 19 weeks. But if your clothes are tight round bump I'd go softer (leggings vs jeans for example, up a size or maternity

GemmaJen · 13/05/2019 05:56

First baby here too but been in maternity wear since 14w. Definite bump at 19w. Everyone is different so you can't really compare.

blackcat86 · 13/05/2019 06:00

I was easily showing by 12 weeks but then had a very slim frame

stillworkingitout · 13/05/2019 06:10

Everyone shows differently. I was tiny before pregnancy (small in stature and pretty slim). I was in maternity from 12w - not sure if I was showing then as we announced at a work party and people were surprised (they had all been to our wedding 4 months earlier though). By 15 weeks it would have been very obvious

GoldenBlue · 13/05/2019 06:26

I showed at 8 weeks irrespective of the amount of weight I put on. I was the size of a house with one and had a neat little bump with another but both were obvious enough for others to comment on very early.

RMarieClaire · 13/05/2019 06:36

I started showing - at least in my mind - around 15 weeks. Now when I look back at photos I think it's hilarious that I thought I had a bump then, when I'm now so huge, but at the time it felt really pronounced

Lisalou88 · 13/05/2019 06:38

This is me yesterday at 18 weeks, I haven’t weighed myself but I’ve had a definite bump for a few weeks and already been wearing maternity jeans and leggings. This is my first baby too, everyone is different and I’m just embracing the bump lol

Everyone is different. Midwife says baby is growing ok so that's 👍
If you feel you're getting too much of a
Bump, perhaps just embrace it!!
If you feel you're eating too much or too many calories (check it out online and with your midwife) then perhaps exchange more calorific food with less calorific foods?! But honestly, just enjoy your pregnancy, eat plenty of healthy stuff and some goodies too and just enjoy, don't stress

Isohungy · 13/05/2019 06:44

Of course you have a bump at 19 weeks, you're almost half way through!

Please stop weighing yourself- don't waste a fleeting precious time of pregnancy worrying over weight.

Rubberduckies · 13/05/2019 08:07

I had a definite little bump around Xmas time so I was about 17/18 weeks. I'm slim and my bump has stayed very neat throughout (I keep being sent for growth scans because it's too small!) I wouldn't worry, everyone carries babies differently.

Rubberduckies · 13/05/2019 08:08

And I definitely did not fit into my normal clothes at 19 weeks!

HoneyPea · 13/05/2019 09:01

I was 'showing' just before 12 weeks although I think most of it was bloat as I was thin before (petite size 4 or 6) I found a good pregnancy weight gain calculator that tells you how much you should weigh each week www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html
Currently 35weeks and still within the weight range for the week I'm at. But I wouldn't worry as long as you and baby are healthy.

codenameduchess · 13/05/2019 09:15

I was definitely showing by 20 weeks first time, had horrific bloat from 6 weeks until about 13 then a bump from 19/20 weeks and maternity clothes from 15/16 weeks for comfort.

10 weeks with second now and I can feel the top of the uterus very low down just poking above my pelvis, by 19 weeks it's at your belly button so it's quite possible to show if you're slim anyway. Embrace it!
