Seeing midwives in Cornwall - can anyone help please!

Expecting PFB in Jan after 2 losses - midwife has booked my booking appt in for when I will be 10+2.

I'm really concerned this will be too late to get a scan for 12 weeks (at Treliske).

Cornish ladies (or those like me who have moved down here!) can you please tell me when you had your booking in appt and first scan?

I'm prepared to call them tomorrow and ask for it to be moved forward but don't want to do that if that's standard down here!

My scan came through the week after my booking appt. They can see you any time until 13 weeks + 6 I believe so you should be fine.

Of course if you're worried no harm in giving them a call to check.

Congratulations!

Thank you @MadeInCornwallx3
Can you remember how far you were when you had your booking appt?

Trying to get through this morning is impossible!

Hmmm... by dates 9 weeks something I think.

That will vary by surgery I suspect.

When you see the midwife I'm sure they'll get your scan in time. Just make sure you mention it at the appt. they can probably call and book it there and then.

My booking appt was at 10 weeks, scan at 12 weeks. Much quicker in Cornwall than here in Kent where I waited about 2 weeks for the appt to come through. Cornwall happened in 5 days I think? (DS was born in Treliske)

I was under Penrice/St austell midwives though so may vary on how easy it is to get through to them.

Thanks @MadeInCornwallx3 I spoke to them this morning and have rebooked for a week earlier, so I'll be 9+2.

Oh really @DeadDoorpost that's interesting. I've booked under Truro.

How did you find Treliske compared to Kent? I'm from Bristol originally and all my friends have had babies at the big teaching hospital there. My one and only experience of Treliske was awful so am really anxious Blush

I've had two at Treliske and my experience has been great.

They also have the new midwife led unit now which looks lovely. If you look up Truro birth centre online there are video tours. I'm hoping I get to use it for my third!!

Oh no, nc fail Blush

Thanks @MadeInCornwall, will have a little look. Is it by Treliske? If so, sounds perfect.

It's in the hospital itself - opposite the labour ward.

@Bentley111 this is outing but DS was the first baby born in the new Truro Birth Centre. They were fantastic there, despite me turning up way past what they thought I was in regards to labour... 9cm when they thought they'd be turning me away! (First baby, could talk through contractions at the time).

They have a FB page where they give updates etc if you're on there and want to have a look.

Not given birth yet, but Kent seems the same. Lovely midwives, and when I've been admitted because of Hyperemesis they've been great there in the birth centre.

The Treliske hospital is very different to the birth centre.the BC is way more friendly and relaxed.
