Anterior placenta

So today I’m 16 weeks and 5 days
We found out we’re having a baby girl which was so exciting and feels too good to be true!
I’m naturally an anxious person and worry so much! I was told my placenta is at the front and is anterior so I may feel less movements.
I stupidly googled anterior placenta and it showed that it increases risks of placenta abruption which terrifies me
With my son I had a big bleed at 35 weeks and had him a month early luckily he was fine but naturally I worry about this pregnancy!
Has anyone else had this placenta position?

Anterior Placenta is actually quite common. I have one and I’m currently 27 weeks, I didn’t get my first kick until about 3 weeks ago but now they are more regular.

Stylemebabyonemoretime · 12/05/2019 21:44

Anterior placenta is more common than interior placenta.

Tigger001 · 12/05/2019 21:47

Yes I had one. My DS is 21 months now, I was advised they are really quite common.

It did however mean I had reduced feeling of movement of him, the hospital are great though, if you are ever concerned they are more than happy to check on baby.

I did not have any other issues with this during pregnancy or through the birth, well not linked to the anterior placenta.

Mine is anterior too, and low-lying (placenta previa). It’s meant that feeling movement is a bit more difficult, although now at 24 weeks the kicks are strong enough that I do feel them in front. I first got definite movements to the sides of my bump.

Pretty sure 50% of placentas are anterior. I also have one but no one mentioned it to me, read it in my notes. Not caused me any issues at all

Shmithecat2 · 13/05/2019 08:28

Mine was anterior, but it moved of it's own accord. I didn't feel much movement until 23-24 weeks, then when it moved, I could feel everything. Its fairly common, don't panic!

Mine is also anterior and absolutely no one mentioned it to me, also saw it in my notes. My friend just had a healthy baby and had an anterior placenta, no problems at all ;)

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 13/05/2019 18:46

Mine was anterior, it's very common so don't worry! Although, it does increase the likelihood of labour being back-to-back (mine unfortunately was) because baby likes to face the placenta.

Frizzy1986 · 13/05/2019 18:56

I had anterior with dd and I only knew because I read it in my notes, no one actually told me.
I think if they are concerned about anything they'd mention it.

Fortheloveofscience · 13/05/2019 19:03

Mine’s anterior Smile 21+4 with DC1 and just starting to feel movements. I’m satisfied that it’s normal, just pleased it’s high rather than covering cervix.

PersianStar · 13/05/2019 19:22

I had anterior, no one told me I also read it in my notes. DD was incredibly active so I never had any issues with movements. I actually felt her earlier than what is considered normal.
Only thing was she was back to back with an incredibly long cord which she got tangled up in on the way out.

I had an anterior placenta, it was just mentioned as a passing comment during my scan. I also googled it and found that with an anterior placenta you can expect to feel movement later, but I felt my first kick at 17 weeks! Anterior placenta caused absolutely no problems for me so although I appreciate it's easier said than done, please try not to worry Smile
