Hi there,

I've had my booking in appointment and my 12 week scan. At the scan they booked me in for the 20 week scan.
Am I right in thinking I should see my midwife at 16 weeks? Do I need to phone them and book in?

I'm currently 14 + 4.

What did your midwife say at the 12 week appointment?

Stylemebabyonemoretime · 12/05/2019 14:14

But yes you should have a 16 week appointment

blackcatclocks · 12/05/2019 14:18

Yeah, I had one at 16 weeks with both my pregnancies

Yes, I think it's different as to where you go to see the midwife depending on where you live. They do it differently in some places. Where I live it's booking in at the hospital, then 12 week scan at hospital then community midwife at 16 weeks then 28 weeks and so forth.

I had to contact my doctors surgery to get booked in for my 16 week midwife appointment where at the hospital automatically did my last one and I just received the letter

Yes I had a midwife appt at 16 weeks. Did you not get a pregnancy book that you take to all appointments and is filled in by midwives? Mine has a flow chart of all the appointments I need to book at how many weeks pregnant etc x

My midwife appointments and scans were booked separately. I was sent letters confirming scans from the hospital, midwife appointments I had to book through my through through my gp surgery. Do you see your midwife thorough your surgery? Maybe give them a call?

normally its your midwifes that book your MW appointments not the scan people/hospital so scans will be booked when you go for the previous scan and MW Appts will be made after every midwife Appt, if you havent got one then you should phone your GP.

Thanks everyone. My midwife is meant to be local at my GP, but first booking appt was at a mini hospital (don't know what else to call it - one of those local ones). The midwife booked in the 12 week scan for us at the main hospital. Assumed I'd have to book it, but just wanted to check I was correct in it being 16 weeks, rather than me demanding an appt I don't need!
I'll phone my GP tomorrow about it.
