Ear plugs
Your own pillow
Snacks for post birth- I had a cool bag with ice cold apple juice. Delicious. And fizzy water.
Make up

Moisturiser and leave in conditioner/hair oil, everything dries out in hospital. Some of your normal sanitary towel, mat ones are uncomfortable and not everyone bleeds heavily after a section.
A love island style water bottle that you can lie on the bed with you with no drips.
Peppermint oil capsules for the trapped wind/shoulder pain.
Ibuprofen/paracetamol- at least in our trust you take your own.

Oh and lansinoh if you plan to bf.

Just place-marking as this looks a great list!

Bobbiepin · 12/05/2019 14:58

Sports water bottle
Mini squash bottle
Snacks
Chocolate (I'm serious)
Nappy bags

CatToddlerUprising · 12/05/2019 15:00

Peppermints or peppermint tea- helps with constipation. Was constantly asked after the c section if I had opened my bowels and they wouldn’t let me go home until I did

Mumoftwox · 12/05/2019 15:05

thankyou everyone think am all set went out got last bits and Bob's just gonna get the peppermint capsules. thanks xx

I would add a couple of muslins in and a changing mat for baby.

Ear phones for yourself to listen to music or watch anything.

AllyBamma · 12/05/2019 15:07

Bluetooth speaker - we used it to drown out the hospital noise with some nice lullabies at night (in a private room though, might not be practical in a shared room)

Maybe more leggings because you are still likely to bleed lots (I sure did) and even the maternity pads can struggle to keep up sometimes

An eye mask so you can nap during the nap when baby is sleeping

Not sure if your hospital will provide but perhaps some sudocrem or similar for the baby

Congratulations!

Earplugs and eye mask
A big mug if you like hot drinks, otherwise you'll be drinking from little plastic cups of tea! Everyone commended me on my genius for taking my own mug in (even the midwives!!)

Make sure the pants are really giant enough. You want the waistband practically under your armpits if possible. Ditto leggings etc - really high waistband so it's nowhere near the incision.

Cornishmum00 · 12/05/2019 15:39

Im sure you have packed them but you dont have nappies or nappy bags on list, snacks are a must i would say Smile

Mumoftwox · 12/05/2019 20:26

thanks guys have packed nappies, nappy bags , eye mask, muslins, sudocreme and changing bag thanks for all your help! xx

Headphones were a must for me, dressing gown? Maybe a book, you might have a wait before you go down for the section.

Squiff70 · 12/05/2019 21:01

Lip balm - if you use entonox (gas and air) it dries your lips out.

Squiff70 · 12/05/2019 21:01

Sorry, just remembered you're having a C-section so ignore that, sorry! Best of luck xx

Teddybear45 · 12/05/2019 21:03

Get special c-section underwear. Also lactulose / fibogel in case it’s needed help you along because occasionally sections (or the meds taken during) can make you very constipated.
