Cot for newborn twins

Hi all , we are expecting B/G twins in July . I am doing some research into cots , does anyone know if newborn twins can share a cot and do they sell bigger ones for them? I’d quite like to have them together to save
space . Those with twins or multiples what did you do ? Thank you

I'm expecting twins. We plan to have separate cots because we want to use breathing alarms (a pad that goes under the mattress and alerts you if the baby stops breathing) and it could give false results if we had two babies in one cot. Not everyone sees the appeal of them, but I found it very reassuring with my eldest.

I am carrying twins and we are going to sleep them in same cot.

Look at the type that converts into toddler bed. They are bigger than standard. And check out TAMBA safe sleep guidance - sleeping them together is recommended and can get them into the same sleep routine

Expecting twins here too and will be putting them together in a cot, you can Google how to position them to see safe sleeping guidelines. They will then have their own cor each once they are bigger and rolling or disturbing each other.

I’m pregnant with twins too, thinking of putting them in the same cot too in the hope that it does help develop similar sleeping patterns - are those of you planning on doing this intending to go straight into a cot or starting with Moses baskets whilst they’re tiny?

I am going straight into cot. The plan is to have one cot downstairs in living room, and another in our bedroom. We'll need two cots anyway when they get bigger!

Moses baskets don't seem worth it for me. You can't co sleep in moses basket.

Currently 20w with twins - planning on having them sleep in a standard sized cot (120x60) together in our room right from the start. My DS was in a Moses basket for all of 3 maybe 4 weeks I think, then we moved him into a wee crib, then a cot bed (140x70) and tbh i couldn't be dealing with the faff of that again and having two of everything.... so we have just sold on all of those and bought 2 standard sized cots - one of which will be in the 'nursery' for plonking them in during the day when I need a wee etc - and one will be in our room and they will share it for sleeping til they are annoying each other (which will prob coincide with when they move to the own room) and then will have both cots in the nursery together.
That's the plan....I'll tell you in a few months if it was a good one or not..!

Go with a cot bed they're bigger than standard cots. If I had twins I would do the same I imagine they're used to each other and it would be comforting.

For my DTs we had a next to me crib which was great, lasted 8 weeks before they outgrew it 😂

I’ve seen it suggested on here that you could use a normal cot bed, and just take the side off, and when they’re too big for that put two cot beds together with the mattresses pointing the other way so they can continue to co-sleep.

Mine went in to their own room and own cotbeds at 8 weeks with an angelcare sensor each. Not for everyone, but our room was too small for a cotbed to fit in there, and we were all disturbing each other during the night. We bought mokee cotbeds which are smaller than the standard size (120x60 instead of 140x70) which were very reasonably priced, and have stood the test of time so far!

Good luck to all your expectant twin mums, having twins is fab!

My twins were very prem (unexpectedly) they went into separate cribs as they were apart in incubators for quite a while and didn’t like like it when they were put together.

JumpingFrogs · 11/05/2019 20:42

Mine shared a carry cot for the first few weeks and then moved to a cot-bed sized cot - we placed them horizontally, side by side, instead of having their heads at the head end. They moved to separate cots once they were larger and more mobile. We also had a travel cot downstairs for daytime naps.

Thank you I will have a look at the ones that convert into toddler beds
