Hi the doctor rang me yesterday to say my iron was low and prescribed iron tablets... which would explain the faint spells and extreme exhaustion lol but how long will it take for them to start working?

They work very quick but I found them too hard on my stomach with stomach cramps. I bought (iron) spatone water and it’s easily digested by the stomach. Might be worth a shot if you don’t get on with the tablets

Tablets worked for me within a week, however I am carrying twins and unfortunately it didn't completely fix my anaemia.

Apparently Spatone is better for maintaining healthy iron levels than raising low ones. I found ferograd C good (along with prune juice) but a doctor also told me that red meat is the best food for boosting flagging iron levels and making you feel better quickly.

Currently taking iron - last pregnancy took 6 months worth to get out of the anaemic level 😫
Ask for some stool softeners, trust me

@Hiphopopotamous I fully agree, laculose made a big difference to my comfort!

Just so it doesn't panic you, iron tablets make your poo black!
