31 weeks, Braxton Hicks and upset stomach - panicking!

I am probably worrying about nothing, but I'm not due until July and have been having increased Braxton Hicks all morning, plus a really upset tummy since about 2am. I've been getting the BH for weeks (and these are definitely still BH because there's no pain, just the weird contracting feeling) but I've definitely had more this morning. And I've been told that upset stomach can indicate that it's getting close, and (tmi warning) I've basically been dashing to the loo every 15 minutes the whole morning.

I'm panicking slightly that something is up and that it's too early - but I think I may just be having a massive overreaction and being paranoid! Thoughts?

Hi, I'm 32 weeks and was in this exact position last week. I popped up to the hospital and they put me on the monitor and as you can see in the photo attached I was having BH every four minutes to the point the midwife couldn't believe I wasn't in pain. The doctor came and did an internal swab called a fibronecitin test which tests for a hormone that your amniotic sack breaks down in the two weeks leading up to labour. If it comes back positive then you are "maybe" going into labour sometime in the next two weeks but a negative means you are absolutely in the clear for at least a fortnight. Mines was negative thankfully! Hope this helps and good luck Smile

Oh, I'm glad that everything came out well for you! Mine are ca. 10 mins apart so I can't imagine what it's like having them every 4 mins - it must have been a bit scary! I'm probably being hyper cautious but I'm going to ring and ask what they advise... I have an issue with a really low platelet and WBC count which means there are a few tiny extra risks, so I just feel like it may be better to be on the safe side...

I absolutely agree, they're always more happy to check you over and it be nothing rather than you delaying concerns and second guessing yourself! I hope all is well

Swab came back negative (phew!) but they are keeping me in because my white blood count was super super low. Urgh, I am just super worried about it somehow having a bad effect on the baby... but the doctor assured me that they were more worried about the impact it was going to have on my health than on the baby's! And at least it is getting sorted. Have to say, I find the NHS sooo incredible in these situations.

Oh I'm glad to hear that!! You're in the best place as cliche and annoying as that phrase is.
