To brie or not to brie, that is the question

I've always liked Brie, but never in my life have I craved it as much as I do right now (8+5). Sods law.

I know there are two camps when it comes to the avoidance of things like Brie, either "strict avoidance, its only 9 months", or "meh its not so bad to indulge from time to time".

Just curious as to people's opinions: eat the brie and bacon panini - yes or no?

You can eat it cooked if you are worried Smile

Also craving. I don’t even have it that often. I’m off of a France on holiday next month and the French health info is also not to eat. It’s going to be hard however I’m not risking.

No worries, SeptemberDays :)

I'm not keen on brie, but I do love goat's cheese, which falls into the same category. I did have it on occasion if I had cooked it (or could be certain it had been cooked) until bubbling/browning. Pasteurisation is min. 15 sec at 70°C, from memory. So anything that replicates or exceeds that effect should remove the risk.

@SeptemberDays @AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo it's steak that's ok if it's frozen first, I nearly WEPT when I found out I didn't have to have mine cremated!

I Bried this pregnancy. One of the few things I could eat at one point. I didn't have loads, but ate it with roast potatoes. (Hyperemesis and limited on foods I can stomach... I have many food aversions during pregnancy as well)

Last pregnancy I had no brie at all. I definitely missed it.

I’m amazed at this. The NHS food guidelines are there for a reason, and as PP have mentioned listeria kills foetuses. It’s not like alcohol where there’s no evidence a small amount does any damage, you’re gambling with your unborn child’s life on whether or not a particular piece is infected.

Just cook it or wait 9 months!

I won't be eating any because of the risks. However it's v tough sometimes! There's an advert for Le Rustique camembert on TV at the moment and god it looks good. I can't stop thinking about it. BUT we must be strong. I've had 3 m/cs so I'm not taking any chances.
