Ok so how bad is one glass of wine?

It's my birthday at the end of the month, I'll be 27 weeks gone at that point.

So far I haven't touched a drop of alcohol in this pregnancy but I really want a glass of wine with my birthday meal?

Is it stupidity to even consider it?

I'm genuinely surprised, and happy, that so many people take the same pragmatic view as me.

The difference between now and my first trimester is insane. I remember crying because I thought I poisoned babies from eating too much salmon! I think we chill out as pregnancy progresses

I had the occasional glass in both my pregnancies. Only a glass of fizz and always with food.

You have to drink a lot and regularly to cause damage to your baby. One small glass with a meal on a special occasion is fine! Enjoy it!

I'm 20 weeks pregnant very healthy baby. I was unaware of pregnancy until 18 weeks pregnant. Before I was aware I had night out drank almost 1/2 bottle rum

BertieBotts · 10/05/2019 13:56

It's fine especially this late on.

My Dr said 1-2 glasses once or twice a week is absolutely fine and may even be beneficial if it relaxes you, crack on. It’s like you’re suggesting a binge.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 10/05/2019 14:00

Sorry it’s NOT like you’re suggesting a binge 😂

I drank through mine. Way less than usual and wearer drinks but I still did.
My mum drank as usual through all 3 of hers and smoked as usual as well.
We are all fine as is my son

Along time ago and I'm not advocating it now but when I was expecting and experienced some early bleeding I was advised to go to be with a bottle of wine to relax and relieve stress.

Having said that, in the 50's they used to recommend smoking as an expectorant - help you cough and clear your chest. LOL

When I was nursing in a maternity hospital, admittedly only for 3 months back in the 80's I only saw one case of fetal alcohol syndrome. The mum was chugging neat vodka for breakfast.

I'm with the majority, a single small glass a couple of times a month after the first trimester shouldn't do any harm.

It will be fine, I don't know why you would bother though, but then I don't drink wine it's rank 🤷

windysowindy · 10/05/2019 14:44

I just saw you are expecting twins. You have earned that glass of wine lovely Wink
I would have it, probably with food and drunk slowly since you haven't touched the stuff for months
Enjoy OP
