Birthing pool - what to wear?

Not 100% sure if I want to use the birthing pool for early labour, was going to just go with tens machine but was told I can alternate between the two. So wondering what is best to wear in the birthing pool?

It is such good pain relief and so nice to rest and float between contractions. I had to get out onto the bed for an exam half way through, and couldn't believe how much more painful the contraction was on dry land. I'll 100% have a waterbirth should I do it again.

I wore a yoga bra. Honestly when you get to that point you won't care what you're wearing, but I know you don't understand that until you get there! Don't spend money on something new - I considered this and then realised I really just wanted something comfortable that didn't dig in or ride up!

I had a maternity tankini top with a tie halterneck, the idea being that I could untie it and pull it down to do skin to skin. I loved the pool but had to come out eventually as my baby wouldn’t come out. I put one of my partner’s old thick soft t-shirts on after that (winter birth).

I wore a thin vest top. I wasn’t too keen on the idea of the pool at first but I gave it a try and it really did help me to relax so I stayed in there for a bit.

What do you mean when you say early labour?

Our maternity ward won’t let you in the pool until you’re 5cm as it can slow down labour.

I planned a water birth but didn’t have time unfortunately, DS came out like a missile. Maybe next time!

Naked bottom half!

@ Sexnotgender

As it is new in the hospital I'm using, we can use the pool during labour but not for the birth..
Although just read the leaflet again and it does say you must be in active labour with dilation to the neck of your cervix so I must ask at my appt on Wednesday how they measure this. Possibly the 5cm also
