Changing bag recommendations?

Hi ladies,

Wondering if anyone has any changing bag recommendations? Thoughts on shoulder bag vs backpack style? Anything in particular I should look out for or anything you’ve found useful?

I haven’t had any problem picking any of the big things like a travel system, car seat, cot, etc. but for some reason I’m finding changing bags overwhelming!!

Definitely recommend a backpack. Keeps your hands free for carrying baby and then chasing a toddler. I had a baby one but now have a cath kidson just go with one you like.

I have the Skip Hop Duo Signature changing bag and I really like it as it has so many pockets which is really useful to separate my stuff from baby's, find nappy bags etc rather than delving around in the depths of the bag! It also has stretchy pockets on the side which I think are supposed to be used for baby bottles but I use it for my water bottle as I'm breastfeeding. The only thing I would change is that it's a shoulder bag rather than a backpack; I think a backpack would be better as the shoulder bag swings around everywhere when bending down and sometimes slips off my shoulder.

Buy a folding changing mat (eg skip hop or jojomamanbebe do them with pockets for nappies and wipes) then stick that in whatever bag you feel like using that day.

You honestly don’t need an official changing bag.

Just use a normal rucksack and buy a folding changing mat. Baby change bags are a rip off

Buy a bag you like and can use after... and then get something like this. Much better.

Just use a regular ruck sack - don’t waste your money on a changing bag .

You could use one of Samsonite’s commuter backpacks and buy a yummy mummy / similar portable change mat / bottle warmer etc. Those bags are indestructable, waterproof, and really comfortable.

Mumsnet always says buy a rucksack. I disagree-it depends on your lifestyle. I got a cheap skiphop one on eBay -it clips to the pushchair really well and i find it easy to access what I need-just unflap it and it’s all there. Also sometimes use a normal rucksack or chuck the bare minimum in a pocket/small shoulder bag. Think about how you’ll live and go from there-or buy cheap second hand or charity shop so you can try different ways of carrying stuff when baby arrives.

Definitely a backpack. My ju ju be right back was expensive, but it fits everything for a baby and toddler and me.

Orangedaisy · 08/05/2019 17:48

Also think about your pushchair/pram. 2 handles easy to loop rucksack onto, one big handle really hard to hang rucksack from but a changing bag with clips works well. How big is the basket? Will your bag fit in it? Or if you’re going with a sling primarily a rucksack is best.

Think about your preferred bag style now and buy something like that. I did the opposite and regretted it! I’m a habitual backpack wearer, but took leave of my senses when I was pregnant and bought a pricy shoulder bag that I HATED! I now just use the Jansport backpack I’ve had for 25 years, but if I had my time again, I think I’d get the PAC-a-pod backpack or a skip hop backpack, or even just the cheapy Lands one from eBay/amazon!

Pink lining is my fave,im getting another this time. im proper girly tho so it depends on your style, they are very pretty & cute, hold alot & have lots of pockets. Im not a backpack fan like alot seem to be,id say its down to the style u want.
