Seeing as she’s now overdue and has - apparently - voiced a desire to give birth at home and avoid induction, I thought we could all share our tips for bringing on labour naturally. I’ll start...

Apparently, the action of the bowel can cause contractions. It is quite common when a woman in the later stages of pregnancy has diarrhoea, for it to cause labour to start. That is why they suggest a hot curry in late pregnancy.

So come on Harry, call up the Windsor Curry House and get that Vindaloo delivered Grin.

Oh is that why curry works? Interesting!

Happilyacceptingcookies · 06/05/2019 05:49

Walking the route that her staff at Frogmore have to take now that they aren't allowed to park on site.

Time.

I'm sure it's the opposite way round, the body is prepping for labour by evacuating

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 06/05/2019 06:13

@Prequelle that’s also true. There was a craze years ago to drink a bottle of caster oil to make labour start. A couple of my friends did it and gave birth within a day. However, it can be dangerous so not advised. Vindaloo a more gentle option Grin.

@peequelle yes that's right

I had that with DD1 just after my waters broke. It was quite an experience.

Darkstar4855 · 06/05/2019 08:40

What worked for me was going to a Wetherspoons with the toilets upstairs, drinking lots of lemonade and then having to walk up and down to the loos all evening! 24 hours later I was in full active labour at 39+1.

GummyGoddess · 06/05/2019 08:47

Remembering that you urgently need something from the shops at night. Then waters break on cue and you can't go and get it.

Flamingosnbears · 06/05/2019 08:48

Bounce on a birthing ball drink Blackcurrant juice...

Passthecherrycoke · 06/05/2019 08:49

The baby decides when it’s ready to come so nothing will work. Well, apart from induction.

MidnightMystery · 06/05/2019 08:52

Power walk will do the trick !

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 06/05/2019 09:15

Passthecherrycoke - exactly. Otherwise no one would need medical induction if you could just go for a walk...!

NotReadyForThisX2 · 06/05/2019 10:20

Well with Ds I was doing the food shopping when mild contractions started, I very quickly rushed round trying to get the shopping finished and praying my waters didn't break in Tesco.
He was born around 6 hours later.

We had sex the night before though and Dp claims it was that! Personally I think he was just ready to be born, although I do think keeping busy and active helps. Even if it's more to stop you driving yourself crazy waiting.

PorpentinaScamander · 06/05/2019 10:22

Sex is supposed to work. Although my friend is adamant that swallow the spunk works even better.
So get down on your knees before the Prince!

TwittleBee · 06/05/2019 12:54

I didn't get to try any of these as DS came early. But family and friends swear by the following:

  • eating 2 whole bag of tangerines in one sitting
  • having a bath with clary sage oil
  • lots of masturbation
  • lots of sex
  • walking up hills
  • expressing milk whilst watching a good film
  • using a yoga ball to dance like a stripper to club bangers
Kinsters · 06/05/2019 14:02

She clearly read these tips!

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 07/05/2019 02:23

I bet it was my Vindaloo tip Grin !
