Clotted cream

I had M&S scone with clotted cream today. I’ve spent all evening being sick. Surely Marks and Spencer clotted cream will be pasteurised does anybody know? It was in the cafe.
I’m 10 weeks today so hoping it’s just a coincidence I’ve decided to be violently sick all evening. Sad

It is pasteurised. Probably coincidence or something else you ate.

The cream would have been pasteurised. It generally all is unless you’ve bought raw milk direct from a dairy farmer or something. As your 10 weeks I’m sure it’s morning sickness. I hope you feel better soon!

Morning sickness? Mine used to strike randomly like this.

Thanks everybody. I’ve not suffered with sickness yet so it just scared me. Looks like I’m hugging the toilet for a bit while longer! X

You'll be fine. Clotted cream is made by being heated (my grandma's first job in about 1930 was to scald the cream in her uncle's dairy down in darkest Cornwall).

It may just be the richness or high quantity of fat that upset your tummy.

It’s probably the sugar in the scone (and jam if it was inside) causing your blood sugar to crash. Nausea is often worst a few hours after a sugar / carb heavy meal.

I had an M&S scone today with jam and clotted cream ...mmmm it was delish, and I'm fine.

Eeek sorry op this might just be the start of pregnancy sickness. With my 1st it hit me suddenly like a ton of bricks one evening.

Tinyteatime · 05/05/2019 20:56

It could also just be a virus. I had a violent sickness bug at 12 weeks with dc2 (on top of usual pregnancy sickness). Baby was absolutely fine. Try to stay hydrated.

Lactose intolerance is common in pregnancy

My worst nausea was between weeks 10-13 and even thinking about a rich snack would trigger it!
