DS1 prodding bump when we cuddle/read etc - I'm a bit worried

hiya girls

I'm 4 months pregnant with No2. When Ds1 and I were having our bedtime cuddle and read this evening, he kept on elbowing me in the utmmy and leaning all over the bump, I'm certain not in anyway deliberate as he does it with DH too.
DO I need to be concerned do you think? Will he be able to harm the baby?

Don't worry, bump is well protected from anything your DS could do. As a general rule I stopped DS1/DS2 if they were making me feel uncomfortable or if it actually hurt. As you have more antenatals you'll remember just how rough the MWs are when checking you over

When I was pregnant with DS2, I used to get DS1 to help me rub cream into my belly - it made him more aware of what was going on and helped him remember to try to be a bit more careful (He was 2.4 when DS2 was born)

HTH

thanks lydialemon. Yes, now you come to mention it, i do remembr from last time that the midwives aren't exactly gentle.
Thanks.

Had a 2 year old prodding my bump today but it was more uncomfortable than anything else. Totally agree about the midwives! I'm sure db's head would have engaged sooner if they hadn't kept shaking it out of the way!

DS1 used to do that to me. I tried to get him to stroke the bump and kiss it instead. Trouble is, when people said to him "Is Mummy having a baby?" or whatever people say to 2y olds about such things, he used to lift up my T shirt and kiss the bump - fine if we're at home but not at church, out shopping, in polite comapny etc etc
Mind you, McKenzie - this is nothing to what your DS will do to his baby brother/sister when it actually comes out so I wouldn't worry too much

Well ds1 (age 5) was trying to use mine as a shel to stand on to see over a wall the other day. I tell ds2 to be gentle (and usually he is when reminded) but I just try to protect myslef from ds1. This baby has been squashed a lot though.

When I was pregnant with ds2, ds1 did headbutt me very hard in the bump (I think it made ds2 turn -something strange happened anyway) but no problems. I don't think there would be many 2-3 year age gaps if the babies weren't so well protected

I am 6 months and DS keeps leaning on me and elbowing me too, I just tello him not to squash baby. Problem is they cant help it, DS is soo used to hugging and fighting with me, I make him say sorry to bump so he will do that when bump is born.

I squash my bump everynight when I sleep, I try not to but hey when you are asleep you cant help.

Dont worry Mckenzie it happens to us all.

My dd aged 3 was sitting on my hip yesterday and my mam said, "ooh look the baby's all on one side", (i'm 4 months too), and dd said, "does that mean we're playing together??"

AAHHHH!!
