Hi

Im only 5 / 6 weeks pregnant but getting lots of dark patches, like big freckles or liver spots on my face. Didn’t get this at all with DD pregnancy.

Don’t get me wrong - this is a drop in the ocean compared to how my body is weathering 😂 but I’m am surprised by how quickly it’s coming on.

Anyone else had this? And found a good cream to help combat it?

X

You need a good spf

Gettingonabitnow · 04/05/2019 16:03

I’ve got spf 15 in my moisturiser and 30 in my foundation. Assuming it’s hormonal?

It’s your hormones reacting to the sun.

Spf in cosmetics is never enough. You need proper spf

Iagreewithmrsdevere · 04/05/2019 16:08

Congratulations it's a boy!

Gettingonabitnow · 04/05/2019 16:15

Thanks Teddybear45. You mean like an actual daily sunscreen?

Ha iagreewithmrsdevere, why a boy, have you had this??

Yes no symptoms like that with DD but patchwork face with DS. Don't worry it fades right away

Orangepear · 04/05/2019 16:21

I had a girl and 3 years later it hasn't faded.

Teddybear45 · 04/05/2019 16:21

Yep

Tini17 · 04/05/2019 16:23

Yep, proper SPF 50 sunscreen on top of moisturiser / foundation etc.

I had mine with DD but not with DS 🤔

@Gettingonabitnow I've had this in all 3 of my pregnancies. It's called 'Melasma'. Unfortunately there isn't anything that you can do about it, as it's just hormonal changes affecting the pigmentation in your skin. Best to make sure to always wear sun cream when in the sun though, otherwise the patches can darken and look even worse x

MacrosomicMumma · 04/05/2019 20:57

Definitely need a proper 50 facial sun cream. You put it under your makeup though not over.

Helios or Roche Posay do good ones. Not cheap but last ages and great under makeup.

It is hormonal though so sun cream won't stop it but it will stop it getting worse.

SPF in makeup is never enough.

I have this too, first got it with dc3, now expecting dc5

Danielle Lloyd had it quite badly and showed pictures online to try and raise some awareness

Capybaras · 04/05/2019 22:22

I think I'be got this! Noticed earlier in the week some slight pigmentation under my eyes and think it may be coming on my top lip now Sad
Have been wearing la Roche posey factor 50 under my make up and trying to avoid sun. Just hope it doesn't get any worse/is permanent!
