Piles Problem (tmi)

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've got this evil little pile - it doesn't normally cause any issues, except for when I'm trying to use the toilet. It's right inside the "opening" and when I push it hurts.

It makes me avoid going to the toilet (sometimes for over a day) until I have no choice but to go.

Thanks for your help.

Oh you poor thing. I remember it well. The last few weeks of pregnancy was just agony with them. Drink lots and lots of water and eat fibre rich foods so that things are softer when they come out (I ate a LOT of dried apricots haha). Also if you put your feet on a little step stool when you go it puts you in a better position. Other than that it's a grin and bear it thing but I feel for you! It's horrendous!!

Thank you.

I think because I know it is going to hurt it makes going to the toilet even worse because I can't relax

Don't avoid going to the toilet!
Just go and do your business as I'm pretty sure that holding in won't be helping.
Have u seen a doctor for a cream to get rid of? Anusol did nothing for me.
Drink water as much as you can.
The knees up will help definetly.

I have Anusol cream but it is not really effective. With it being "inside" I struggle to apply it to be honest :(

You can get creams with an applicator nozzle - varying strengths from doctor. There one of the worst parts of pregnancy x

meganmc0301 · 03/05/2019 22:30

I found the Anusol suppositories extremely good- the cream was crap!! Also a freezing cold cloth up against it worked really well for me. Hope you get some relief soon they are horrible x

rachb2019 · 03/05/2019 22:40

Thanks for the tips

Do you think it will get better or am I going to be stuck with having painful/difficult poos until I have the baby?

Honestly just varies I think. I suffered in my second pregnancy with them. How far along are you?
I got some decent cream but as I said just depends.

Beeseeinya · 04/05/2019 00:18

Try germoloid cream, found it much better than anusol.
Drink lots and lots of water.
Eat a high fibre cereal every day.
Avoid bread and dough or cloggy foods like pizza.
Eat a banana on days you havent been.
Never hold it is, but never strain. If it doesn't come out without pushing finish on the loo if you've been there more than 5 minutes and try again later. Dont sit on the loo for a long time.
Wipe with a wet wipe, there are good ones for piles. Dont wipe hard with tissue. Hop in the shower if you can to get nice and clean, helps with itching.
If you have severe pain that lasts a long time, get an orthopedic sitting pillow with a hole in it, looks like a donut. Zero pain when sitting.
Just some tips from a long term sufferer of extreme piles, who is also too squeamish to actually insert anything up the bum. The dic can prescribe suppositories but I wasnt able to use them so I just suffer. Check all medication is ok with pregnancy before using.
Sorry you are suffering :(

Try as OP said Germoloid cream. I’m 8 weeks postpartum and piles have been awful & so painful. 2 tubes of anusol, some stuff the doc prescribed, witch hazel pads & still nothing :-/ tried internal too and still it’s painful but I think it might be easing off a little. Got germaloid last week & have been doing internal again. I’ve alao started soaking in tea tree oil for perineal pain and I think it’s helping piles too as it’s a anti inflammatory but unsure if it can be used during pregnancy might be worth a look. Oh and lots of water as OP said and high fibre foods veg fruits etc.

Gingerkittykat · 04/05/2019 02:29

Witch hazel, use some cotton wool or a cloth to apply it after you have been to the toilet. It really helps with inflammation.

Long time ago now but gp gave me something on prescription which reduced itchiness and swelling.

Re bowel movements, get glycerin suppositories (no prescription needed) from a supermarket, superdrug etc. It'll coat the passage. I didn't like anusol as it made the who area too dry, prone to a fissure and (forgive the pun), cracking.

They tell you to sit on frozen peas to reduce swelling though not sure I did that. Baths helped me to take away itchiness.
