Hey all - so I have a really fat belly! I am about 1 stone oversight and it really is all on my belly - classic apple shape!!

I am pregnant and I just wondered if there is anyone on here that had a big belly to begin with and what happened to their bump? Did they get a nice D? What it hard? Did it always feel soft?

I have a B shape belly at the moment - so just wondered. Thank ya'll SmileSmileSmile

I was about 3 st overweight when fell pregnant. Huge b belly. I'm 19 weeks today and starting to round out and become a little harder. Upto last week I was still losing weight doing slimming world

EverythingNow · 02/05/2019 18:45

Nearly 27wks here. Have an apple shape, saggy mum tum from previous pregnancies and also was overweight when I got pregnant.

I have put maybe 1lb on so far, which I'm pleased with. Lost a little to start with but have mainly maintained since. I do expect to start gaining in the next few weeks as consultant says it ramps up from 28wks so be careful.

Anyway, I have a high hard bump but the bottom is still very much flabby fat and loose skin. I am very visibly pregnant now though.

@EverythingNow thanks for coming back to me - I just worried I am not going to get a bump and just look fat!

I was probably three stone overweight last time and at least two the time before that and had quite a regular bump, but it didn't ever really get firm.

Majella20 · 03/05/2019 07:51

@gwenneh that is what I am thinking mine might just stay - fat?! I am going to change my eating habits etc and maybe that will make a difference xxx

I am also Apple shaped with all weight going on my belly. I was wondering this too! Before getting pregnant, I wore size 10-12 clothes and now it’s more like 12-14 in maternity wear (I’m 17 weeks). I’ve put on about a stone but am worried about my massive b belly! It has all definitely expanded - the lower half seems to be baby but the upper half seems to be my fat all bunched up lol! Any ideas on when it will even out and become d shaped?

Majella20 · 06/05/2019 13:08

@Saltisford I really wish I had the answer to this as well if anyone can help us xxx

I don’t think changing our diet will make a difference - I’ve had a b belly my whole life - even when I was my lowest and hit target on slimming world. In the past I’ve worn Spanx (a body) daily to combat it! I think if you’re prone to it, it must be due to body shape. I put no weight on my hips just my tummy!! Hopefully though the baby will get bigger and pop it into a d bump from the inside!!!

NameChanginator · 07/05/2019 22:25

I'm healthy weight, but very apple shaped - two large spare tires at the front, and waist is at least one dress size bigger than the rest of me. Second pregnancy and I'm carrying same as first - all bump, rest of me the same. It's awesome! I'm in body con for the only time in my life! Still have slim top, narrow hips, but the fat belly is now a big round baby bump, so I'm showing it off in tight stuff I'd normally avoid because of fat rolls.

I may just be lucky in how I carry, but pregnancy does my figure a lot of favours!

Majella20 · 08/05/2019 06:26

@Saltisford fingers crossed!! I really want a nice D bump as well. I know it sounds silly as we are literally growing a human and it shouldn't matter. I've just been so self conscious my whole life about my tummy I would love to be able to enjoy it if you know what I mean xxx

@NameChanginator that sounds ideal! Hopefully I go the same way!! I have exactly the same body shape and my dream is to be able to wear something body con with a nice bump! Hope all is well with you xxx

It shouldn't matter if your bump is D shaped (acceptable) or B shaped (unacceptable). It's so sad we are made to feel we aren't getting it right, and it doesn't end after birth, so many women feel shame for still looking pregnant when the have a 1 year old /5 year old, what ever. Wishing you a straightforward pregnancy and birth OPFlowers

NameChanginator · 08/05/2019 07:23

You're right, Her, it shouldn't matter. I can't help enjoying it though. I spend so much time unpregnant, pulling on jeans and thinking "well they look nice, shame the button doesn't reach" or fastening the button and realising they look like clown pants, or pulling on a top and just seeing overspill at the waist band - it's refreshing to just pick my size off the rack and it always look okay!

Majella20 · 08/05/2019 11:44

@Her0utdoors thanks for the message. I know it is sad really - it is just when we see magazines and photos etc those women have perfect bumps and I never realised that it isn't the normal - you just expect to look like that - sounds silly I know xxx

@NameChanginator I hear you! That is what I am looking forward/hoping for xxx

My bump was D shaped for most of both my pregnancies, and I was slim at the start of both of them (not true by the end,😂). My first was back to back, my second couldn't make his mind up between transverse and breech, so I suppose that influenced things. On a practical level, midwives do encourage pregnant women to sit in a way that encourages the baby into a good position for birth, so not lounging back on the sofa, slouching etc.

Saltisford · 16/05/2019 22:25

Just wondering as this is my first pregnancy... if you had a b belly pre-pregnancy and then a d belly during pregnancy, did you get a b belly again post pregnancy? Lol just a wonder and a hope that’ll it’ll sod off.

Majella20 · 17/05/2019 16:59

@Saltisford good point!! Me to!!
