Overwhelmed by buggy options... help!

DD due early July so it's time to get a buggy, but I'm finding range hard to get my head around.

We know we want a travel system from birth. That's good for tall people (DH is 6ft4, I'm 5ft9). And good on mixed terrain, as I love to all footpaths etc.

We've decided to buy second hand and get a maxi cosi, so needs to work with that.

Any recommendations extremely welcome. I'm letting this get me quite anxious as even second hand it's a big decision and it needs to last. ICandy and Buggaboo seem to have lots of options - but which one is best?

I had icandy peach and loved it as it has extendable handle bar for dh (hes 6'3). Good on all terrains. We also had a second hand nipper out n about for longer all-terrai n walks when son was a bit bigger.

RMarieClaire · 02/05/2019 07:46

Thanks @toasterstrudle! I've heard lots of positive stuff about the Peach. Did you have a particular number model? There are so many, and then the all terrain model as well!

I had a Joolz Geo which was good but quite heavy lifting in and out of car.

Uppababy Vistas get good reviews.

I have had a silver cross wayfarer and a bugaboo donkey. The air tyres on a bugaboo make it great on all terrrains and really easy to push. After having a couple of children close together, I would now always choose a bugaboo donkey as it’s also a great double, in my opinion.

Angelinthenightx · 02/05/2019 08:07

Bugaboo is my fave thats what im getting again this time. Had bugaboo donkey last time its the best one ive had, loved it.

We just bought an IckleBubba Stomp v4 after traipsing around shops and the baby and toddler show, testing sooo many. This was the best one for both me and DH

Sunshinegirl82 · 02/05/2019 08:17

Most tall people I know have gone for the Uppababy so might be worth a look!

SheDancesOnTheSand · 02/05/2019 08:21

I've got the Uppababy Vista and love it! DH is 6'3 and I'm 5'5 and we both find it comfortable to use. Great for walking long distances over various terrains.

ryanreynolds · 02/05/2019 08:25

Were tall and have gone for the bugaboo Fox. It had a higher bassinet than a lot of the others we saw, and it's quite a big bassinet - but we think we'll be having a long baby as we're both tall!!

Not sure how cross country it is, we think we'll probably use a sling for off road stuff and it'll mainly be for around town/to the park.

I've got another 4 weeks til due date though so haven't used it yet!!

octonoughtcake3 · 02/05/2019 08:27

Uppababy vista but be prepared to for baby to put grown the carry cot quickly. Another thing for tall parents (therefore long/tall children) to think about is car seats that will allow your child to rear facing for as long as possible. The pinned notes on the Facebook group car seat safety UK is good for information.

BikeRunSki · 02/05/2019 08:33

For off road, look at Jane, Out n About,Phil n Teds and Out n About.

I loved my O n A Nippet 360 for 1 baby, and P&T Sport Tandem for baby and toddler.

A bit off the wall— get a lighter pram/trav system and use a sling ( and later baby backpack) off road.

Capybaras · 02/05/2019 08:52

We've gone for the bugaboo fox for the same reasons as @ryanreynolds - definitely felt the tallest pram and baby is high up which to me and DH being tall is great! Baby not here yet so haven't used it but heard great reviews and loved test driving it!

MindyStClaire · 02/05/2019 09:02

Another vote for the uppababy vista here, I adore ours as does DH. The huge basket is great. I'm short and DH tall (height difference of a foot) and we both find it comfortable to push.

MilkyBaa · 02/05/2019 09:04

We have a Bugaboo Cameleon, which I love and is perfect on mixed terrain (footpaths in woods, beaches, gravel etc) but had my DC been born a year later I would have bought the Bugaboo Fox as I think it’s a bit of an improvement on the Cameleon.

BillyAndTheSillies · 02/05/2019 09:06

We will be using our Stokke Xplory again. We bought it originally because of the high handle and positioning of the baby. Lots of friends had the Vista and Cruz from Uppababy but found it had a really wide wheel base which could be a bit tight in shops.

My brother is 6'5" and I'm 5'9" and we both pushed the Xplory with no issues at all. Looking forward to getting it back out of storage for DC2 arriving in October.

Baby Jogger City Mini GT or Summit. Fantastic prams and can be used From birth.

hiyahen · 02/05/2019 11:12

I absolutely loved our uppababy vista. Lovely big basket underneath and really great to push. After my two DC's outgrew it I passed it on to a friend - it's still going strong after 3 kids.

Andrea91 · 02/05/2019 12:14

Mother care own travel systems are great. Some have adjustable handles. I'm.getting one called joie igemm from a place called online for baby.

SnakesBarmitzvah · 02/05/2019 14:15

Go to John Lewis or another large department store and someone will help you. They are too many options, you need someone that can give you real advice based on your criteria.

Erismorn · 02/05/2019 19:30

Babyjogger Citi mini GT. Lie flat from birth, they do adapters so you can put most car seats on it and it's fab for tall parents. DH is 6'4" and I am 5'8" and it was great. Super easy to steer/push, all terrain and it's a one hand fold which made it worth its weight in gold. It's also quite compact once folded, especially if you pop the wheels off. Really roomy basket underneath too.

whitehalleve · 02/05/2019 19:33

I love love love my Bugaboo bee 5. I have a v tall boyfriend and the handle is his tall enough for him too, which definitely isn't the case with some.

Tini17 · 05/05/2019 06:55

Uppababy Vista fans here, sturdy, huge basket and has a breathable carrycot that is certified for sleeping in overnight If I recall properly.
We’re both tall so the extendable handle was great plus the baby is quite ‘high up’ compared to some others (not great with bad back having to bend down to the carrycot). Can adapt for multiples if needed later 👍🏼
Pop into John Lewis and try some out?

Mumofone1593 · 05/05/2019 07:03

Cosatto giggle, has pram from birth and adaptor for maxi Cosi car seat that can clip on. Am 15 months in and still use it every day Smile

PBobs · 05/05/2019 07:20

Mountain Buggy. We have the Swift but if I was going to live in a slightly less intense city I'd have perhaps opted for the Urban Jungle. Love their pushchairs.
