Hi,

I’m in the very early stages of my second pregnancy and am Rhesus Negative, can anyone tell me when I need my first jab or need to speak with someone as have not yet met the midwife?

Thanks,

Don't think they come until much later unless you have a fall or bump on your bump

Teddybear45 · 01/05/2019 12:33

Speak to your midwife. If you didn’t have the jab in your first and have antibodies already there might be nothing more they can do but extra monitoring

Did you get the anti d injections in your first pregnancy? The first isn't due until the 3rd trimester

OMP83 · 01/05/2019 12:41

Yes, all shots had including after birth just can't seem to find any info on it relating to a second pregnancy when it's more crucial

Don't worry. You don't need anti d until after 12 weeks even if you have a sensitising event and your routine anti d is at 28 weeks

dementedpixie · 01/05/2019 12:45

It isn't given any earlier in a 2nd pregnancy unless you have bleeding or trauma to the bump. I've had 2 kids and I'm rh- and DH is rh+.

slipperywhensparticus · 01/05/2019 12:48

It changes with every pregnancy dd1 I had it after that apparently covered me for future pregnancies ds1 was 21 weeks and afterbirth ds2 was 28 weeks and afterbirth

Cookit · 01/05/2019 12:55

The routine bloods at booking in will show if you’ve been de-sensitised (unlikely). Then 28 weeks ish for routine anti D.

Thanks all

Hello!
I'm on my second pregnancy and o- and had all jabs first time round. I am 16 weeks and have just had an appointment at the midwife clinic to have a blood test where they said they will be able to detect baby's DNA in my blood and be able to say whether I will need antibodies again or not. If i do they're not until 28 weeks unless you're bleeding or have trauma to bump.
It was all arranged after initial blood test by the hospital, so maybe ask your midwife if they also offer this?
Good luck x

I'm having it in a few days at 28 weeks, and then I you have one after birth if the baby is rh+. You only need an earlier one if you have a knock to your bump or bleeding after 12 weeks.

Shadow1234 · 01/05/2019 15:48

My daughter is rhes neg with second baby due today or tomorrow (being induced as we speak) , and she was given anti d at 28 weeks. (Unless you have a bump or fall in between).

Cannyhandleit · 01/05/2019 15:56

28 weeks although I got one very early with my first baby as I had a threatened miscarriage.

Pro-tip: get some Emla cream to use an hour beforehand. The anti-D injection is bloody painful but I thwarted it in 2nd pregnancy with the magical anaesthetic cream. ✅
