I'm nearly 38 weeks pregnant and have recently found myself overheating a few times at night. Both times it's been entirely my own fault for wearing too many layers to bed or bringing my hot water bottle with me to help with cramps. When it's happened I've woken up hot and de-layered or chucked the bottle out right away. Can this have done any damage to the baby? I've also had a few warm baths; I say warm because I usually like them far hotter but these have been fine to get into in one go rather than needing to adjust each limb to the heat as I did pre pregnancy.
In the third trimester the internet seems to say that the main risk is preterm labour, which I actually did have with my first baby but not for this reason. Obviously at 38 weeks I'm no longer at risk of that. I'm doing one of those midnight Google panics just now; please tell me it's fine?

No, I promise you cannot have done any damage to your baby.

Thank you! I did think it sounded very paranoid but then got into a rut in my head worrying about it. Hopefully I can get back to sleep now, thanks!

Absolutely fine. You will not have affected your internal temp. The hot bath thing is really for your safety; very hot can make you light headed and therefore at risk of falling when getting back out. Baby will
be perfectly happy. Enjoy your last days of pregnancy!

Here's an interesting summary of a recent study on this www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2018/03/01/pregnant-women-can-enjoy-hot-baths-saunas-without-risk-says/

And here is a summary of a letter published in the BMJ in 1979 beginning to discuss the shift in thinking (the sexist language made me laugh though): www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1599303/?page=1
