Hiya everyone. I got a bfp today after having a mmc last year. I am considering taking baby aspirin but there is so much conflicting advice about it. I know this gets asked all the time here but I would be keen to hear from anyone with recent experience of this. Thanks! X

If you don’t have a clotting disorder or another illness that requires it then using aspirin can cause bleeding / miscarriages. You could go to your GP for the test if you’re worried. They can test for a number of L1 and L2 clotting disorders. Should also get your thyroid tested too (full panel) because if your TSH is high that could cause it too.

But no not use aspirin unless you have been told to by a doctor.

I had two miscarriages and when I was pregnant again I mentioned that I had researched it to my doctor and asked for his opinion. He told me it would do no harm to take it and see how I got on, I had a healthy baby after that and I honestly believe that i would have miscarried again if I didn't take it.

I've had two mc's and currently nearly 13 weeks pregnant where I have taken aspirin throughout.
I asked a GP friend who was conflicted...she said that if I'd have seen a specialist they'd tell me to take it however if I was her patient she'd have to tell me not too...has taking it prevented another mc? Who knows?! I have to take it post 12 weeks and if I was pregnant again I think I'd still take it

Ask your midwife? Or check out the nice guidelines.
I was advised to take it due to age, and I don't think there are really any downsides for a healthy pregnant woman. However it is contraindicated in a number of situations so you should get it prescribed by a gp, not just start taking it.

I had a miscarriage and a couple of chemicals and my dr advised me to take low dose aspiring (75mg a day - a quarter of a tablet). She says it won't do any harm and if there's any underlying clotting issue it would be helpful.

I had to take it up to 12 weeks following my IVF protocol, however, when I had my booking appt my midwife told me to carry on until week 32 as it reduces risk of pre-eclampsia and other birth issues

75mg aspirin one a day. I use mine to control blood pressure

Thanks all for the responses. I'm going to have a chat with the GP about it before making a final decision.

I take it as I'm carrying twins and also concieved through ivf so I'm at risk of pre eclampsia. I wouldn't take it without the advice of a dr personally, and that's speaking as a woman who has also lost pregnancies. Aspirin is really really safe, but it's also not completely risk free especially if you had other issues like stomach or bowel issues. I'm glad you are going to your GP
