I am 21 weeks pregnant and going to Amsterdam next week for a few days.

I can't work out whether pregnancy related issues are covered by travel insurance or not. It doesn't seem to say on any of the policies.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

You need to read the policy booklet and terms and conditions because every policy is different.

Do you already have a policy, or are you looking to buy one?

I recently bought one from Insure and Go - the booklet they sent me contains the list of pregnancy related complications they cover (pretty much everything you'd expect).

If you were further along, you'd want to make sure the baby was also covered, in the event it arrived early - but not relevant at 22 weeks,

Viability is subjective. You probably do want insurance that covers the baby just in case. It would be relevant if you went to the US where babies can be considered viable at 20 weeks. It could be relevant in the Netherlands too.

Even in the UK there are differences with some trusts trying to save a baby born at 23 weeks while others not.

Post office specifically says in T&Cs that complications are covered, so at least some do. Need to get into the real fine print though which maybe comes up at quote stage
