Bicornuate uterus

Has anybody got experience of pregnancy with a bicornuate uterus?
Mine is a deep divide (but not total so definitely bicornuate) and everything seems to be going well so far but I'm still fairly anxious about late mc and preterm labour.
Please help me to relax with positive stories!!

I have a Bu aswell, found in my 1st pregnancy with my son. I did have my boy at 34 weeks but you can see on my 20week scan he really did not have any room. All bu's are different. He was nearly 5lb, no oxygen and perfectly happy healthly baby. Now a massive 5 year old. Im 4+6 with number 2. And weve had trouble getting a sticky pregnancy but i have scarring from retained placenta with my 1st. Some women go term, some dont. Theres really no need to worry xx

My mum had me and my sister in the 60s but only discovered her bifurcated uterus in the 80s.

Thank you both, the consultant said everything is developed at 34 weeks so I'm just praying we can at least make it to there.
I just desperately want the baby to be healthy (obviously).
Congratulations on your second pregnancy @sleepycat - I hope it all goes well for you!

How far along are you now? Has the consultant put any extra monitoring in place for you?
I've had one 24 weeker spontaneous labour, and one 31 weeks IUGR c section. I'm 17 weeks with my third and obviously really anxious but I seem to be in the minority, I find most stories online are really positive of full term or very close to term healthy pregnancies.

Yeah, I'm having cervical length measurements (which I've pushed for) and will have growth scans from 30ish weeks.
Sorry to hear about your bad experiences: it's such a scary time!

Sounds like you've got everything going for you then. Best of luck with it, it's really worrying when you're just faced with a big list of potential problems.
Thankyou, they're both happy and healthy now though so even though their entrances into the world were not the nicest I know I'm a very lucky woman.

Oh wow, thats amazing. I didn't like to pry really but thats lovely to hear.
Best of luck with your pregnancy, I really hope everything goes well for you.
Thank you.

I have a bu, deep divide like you have described.
With all three of my pregnancies I had premature rupture of membranes... Basically the sac popped!
Number 1 hung on for another two weeks and was delivered at 32 weeks naturally.
Number 2 was an emergency c section at 28 weeks.
Number 3 sadly was too soon at 17 weeks.
My two sons are very healthy and solid nearly a decade later.
My advice would be to insist on as much monitoring as possible, it is reassuring for you and helps establish what is normal.
Best wishes for your pregnancy!

Hi. I have a deep divide bicornuate uterus too.

Dd was in the right hand side all the way through, in breech position. She was delivered 36+6 by elective caesarean due to a combination of things - breech, small for gestation and I had obstetric colestasis.

I’m 35+1 with ds now and he is huge, lying transverse under the septum (head and torso right side, bum above cervix, legs up left side!). I’m booked in for a section at 39 weeks if all continues well.

I had an early miscarriage in between these 2 pregnancies, at about 7 weeks, cause unknown. But generally there haven’t been any issues directly related to my B.U. other than awkward positioning.

Thank you all, its such an anxious time. I just want to enjoy being pregnant (and I do, really) but my over-riding feeling is just worry (and guilt).
I'll of course ask the midwife this, but what does spontaneous labour feel like? God forbid it happens early, am I likely to definitely know that it's labour? And is there anything else monitoring-wise anybody would recommend on top of the cervical length measurements and the growth scans? I just want to ensure everything is in place to give my baby the best chance.
