Should I buy a baby breathing monitor?

Hi, baby is due in a few weeks and I'm looking at monitors. A few people I have spoken to said a movement monitor (which monitors breathing) would have been helpful in the early days of constantly checking sleeping baby's breathing.. has anyone used these before or bought one for their baby? Looks like Angelcare do one which has good reviews. Thanks!

I bought one for my sister when she had her first. She said it was worth it and I'll cadge it back off her when the time comes.

We've had SIDS in the family though.

I’m due in 3 weeks and have the angel care one with the mat.

I’m sure I saw somewhere doing about £70 off it recently ! Can’t remember where though sorry

I have one called Nanny. it's on Amazon and it got better reviews than angelcare. It's the best baby purchase I made. Used in moses basket and crib until baby was 7 months.

Our midwife suggested that if we were thinking of buying one if these, then to know what you would do if the alarm went off. In other words, go on a first aid for babies course. Which I suppose is just good advice in general. But probably no point buying one if you will just panic if the alarm is triggered.
