Anyone else on the SPD boat with me?

Hi all,

Just a rant really. I am feeling well and truly fed up. I'll be 30 weeks on Friday, I'm a stay at home mum with a 2 yr 4 month old DD.

I suffered with SPD in my previous pregnancy towards the end, this time it kicked in early and I'm currently feeling it full force. It seems to have ramped up over the last 2 week's.

My midwife has referred me for physio but said it can take a few weeks. She recommended I don't walk more than 10mins.. not really practical with a toddler. I try and rest but not sure if that sometimes makes it worse. Turning over in bed at night feels like I'm being split in 2.

I feel like I could just sit and cry, but there's no point because I've got to just deal with this for another 11 weeks.

Just feeling sorry for myself lol

Anyone else in the SPD boat?

Yes me! Also with #2, and similar aged DC, but only 23 weeks. I have had it for a couple of months. I find walking to be fine, driving not so much (pedals require uneven pelvic movement I suspect) I found Jilly bond physio exercises for PGP to be more helpful than the physio I saw. Try to sit without crossing legs at all (e.g. avoid curling up) get on all fours to take weight off pelvis, and put pillow between legs to sleep. Keep knees together when rolling over in bed and getting out of cars. I try to avoid carrying DC where possible but, as I'm sure you are aware, that's not always possible with a 2 year old! I find piggy backs are easier to manage weight, but require a lot of cooperation which you don't necessarily get when they are tantruming in public. I think the advice is to avoid pushing when walking e.g. Pushchair and trolley, but find it difficult to judge as to whether pushing the pushchair is better, or inevitably carrying a heavy toddler.
It's horrible and I feel for you! I'm not sure I can cope for another 4 months.

Nice to know I'm not alone.. But also wouldn't wish this pain on anyone!

Luckily my DD is not keen on the buggy and will mostly walk nicely. I try not to pick her up but sometimes it's just unavoidable isn't it.

Thank you for the tips, I will try those. I've got a weekend away and trying to get everything sorted, but feel fed up that I can't do what I need to.

I don't think it helps that this baby is measuring on the big side and I feel massive already. So the thought of this getting worse over the next 11 weeks is getting me down.

I've just got my physio app through for next week but it's a group session, so not really sure how helpful that will be.

The things we do for our babies hey lol x
