I’m due to go to turkey in 2 weeks can’t find any insurance companies that cover over 28 weeks I will be 31+4 when I go and 32+4 when I arrive home I’ve taken out basic insurance with the post office but panicking now as it doesn’t cover me for pregnancy. Anyone know any companies that cover pregnancy after 28 weeks?

Ravenhall, but you'll need a letter from your midwife confirming you're ok to travel.

You need an insurance that not covers you but also covers baby if it comes early.

Help! I’m due to fly next Thursday my Dr doesn’t and will not give fit to fly letter. I’ve had a really straight forward pregnancy with no complications my midwife is more than happy for me to go . What can I do??

Get your midwife to give u the letter

Shannun97 · 01/05/2019 15:38

Will the airline accept it off midwife or have it got to be off dr?

This link might help. Looks like a letter from the midwife is fine. Did your doctor say why he wouldn’t give you a fit to fly letter? I’d make sure you know what is logged on your notes in case something was to happen and the insurance company see it, they may not pay out if the doctor has refused. Perhaps ask the doctor if he has any problems with you getting a note from the midwife

Many GPs will not do "fit to fly" letters because a)they have no training in aviation medicine so can't categorically say that anyone is "fit" to fly, and b)they actually aren't that involved in antenatal care of many women (I haven't seen mine at all) so don't know anything about a particular patient's case. They basically don't want to take legal responsibility for something for which there is no crystal ball.

Some airlines have a form that needs filling in but can be signed by a midwife, but even then all that can be safely stated is your gestation, due date, and that there are no complications so far.
