Hi guys, I’m wondering if anyone can help or has heard or something similar...

Me and my partner have never had a successful pregnancy and after a miscarriage in April last year (surgically removed) have been trying.

We have seen 3 pregnancies in a row recently!!!!

February - Positive test. Bled a few days after period was due. Test became negative.

March - Another positive test. Bled a few days after period was due. Test became negative

This month - on day period was due, took a test and pregnant again!

What on earth is going on? Doctors not open today so can’t speak to anyone. We we told after the last 2 in a row they were likely chemical pregnancies and we are waiting to see a specialist.

But now 3 in a row?? I’ve attached a picture of today’s test.

Does anyone know a condition where your body thinks it’s pregnant at the end of each cycle and then resets?? I can’t find anything online to explain this.

3 months in a row.

I had three consecutive months where this happened. The third month stuck and now I’m 32 weeks :) Fingers crossed this one will stick for you 🤞🏻

Beachbodynowayready · 28/04/2019 19:17

How old are you op? I had a chemical in the Oct, following March and April, bfp May but mc in July.
Gave up at 45 sadly.

davejac · 28/04/2019 20:49

That’s amazing Curlywurly3 good luck with the birth 👍🏻 Can I ask if you did anything differently? I see some people use things like baby aspirin...

I lost one at ten weeks this was the first month of trying. I then lost three between 5.5 and 6 weeks. Same thing tests fading followed by bleeding. I get pregnant every time we try so this was consecutive pregnancy's.

I saw a consultant who said borderline pcos and gave me progesterone and metformin.

I am now 25 weeks pregnant. I don't know if it was the medication or if it was chance.

Also look at hyperfertility maybe.

Hope this helps.

@davejac I was taking the Pregnacare conception tablets and I hadn’t changed my lifestyle, I tried to be really calm about the whole thing as I’ve heard stress is really bad. You haven’t said your period has started this month, is that right? Have you done another test?

Hotpinkangel19 · 29/04/2019 07:43

This happened to me too. Pregnancy 3 stuck and he's 8 now. 100% convinced he wouldn't be if I hadn't started taking baby aspirin though x

LittleFox01 · 29/04/2019 07:49

I hope everything goes okay this time for you.
However with aspirin I don't think your allowed to take it until 12 weeks? I could be wrong , but I'm not allowed to take it until I'm 12 weeks. I took it in my last pregnancy too which again I'm sure I started at 12 weeks x

davejac · 29/04/2019 08:03

I will speak to the doctor today about baby aspirin when they open.

Took another test this morning, still a fairly strong line and no bleeding..

I’ve got everything crossed for you. The Early Pregnancy Unit recommended taking baby aspirin to me. I’m now 24 weeks pregnant after losing 2 last year at 7 weeks. Go to the pharmacy today.

Curlywurly3 · 29/04/2019 08:22

Ah @davejac that sounds promising. Hopefully 3 will be the lucky number for both of us. I honestly think my body just didn’t like something about the first two fertilised eggs and flushed them away. DP made me promise not to test until the day after my missed period the third time. If I had done that the two previous times I would never have known about the chemicals. Every day your period doesn’t show up now means you have a good egg 😊 fingers crossed for you x

You need proper tests. If you don’t have a clotting disorder then aspirin can just make things worse (it thins the lining). See a recurrent miscarriage clinic as you will qualify. Get your thyroid tested too; often even minor hypothyroid levels can impact fertility.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 29/04/2019 08:28

Baby aspirin is okay to take under supervision. I was prescribed it whilst ttc for a blood condition. Good luck OP.

BertieBotts · 29/04/2019 09:12

We had this, you do need to ask for referral to a recurrent miscarriage clinic as there can be varying causes and as others have said, aspirin only helps if it's related to a clotting disorder.

In our case DH has family history of a balanced translocation, which we found that he also carries, which is the cause in something like 3-5% of recurrent miscarriage cases (it causes ~50% of embryos to be non-viable, on top of normal miscarriage causes), but apparently the NHS don't test for this any more Hmm unless there is known family history or you tend to miscarry late enough for the tissue to be tested. Investigate other possibilities first, but if you're still without answers, it might be worth pushing for karyotyping to be done.

The good news with balanced translocation is that most people end up having a successful pregnancy eventually, it's just a case of waiting for the numbers to come up right. And I know it's not hugely helpful, but I did find the miscarriages reassuring in that I knew I could get pregnant, we just had to find out why I couldn't stay pregnant. And eventually I did and my baby is 8 months old now and healthy.

davejac · 29/04/2019 12:15

So after last month, that was our third miscarriage. We were at the doctors last week getting bloods done and a NHS referral for recurrent miscarriage. Problem is the waiting list is 2-3 months. We have spoken to doctor, he has said he can only offer a 6 week scan and can’t prescribe aspirin as the problem has not been diagnosed. We are now going to go private so we can get bloods done immediately to jump that 2-3 month wait. If it is sticky blood or a hormone problem hopefully we can get it confirmed and treated this week. Will keep you all posted and thank you for your comments, you’ve helped us believe this is a genuine pregnancy 🤞🏻

@BertieBotts yes will look into this and kayotyping - if we miscarry again this time then these test (and others) will all get done 👍🏻

2-3 months isn't too long to wait. We waited 6 months and that was with the family history! So once we got into the clinic we got answers within 2 weeks which was a relief. It can be longer if they are looking for various things. But if you can pay to get it done quicker fair enough, just make sure you're not jeopardising anything.
