Hello,

Long-time lurker, first time poster here.

I’m 25 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with PGP / SPD at the end of last week after waking up one morning with excruciating pelvic, pubic bone and lower back pain. Could barely walk or move.

Whoops, pressed ‘Create’ too early there...

I’ve been in bad pain for the last 3 days but woke up this morning and the pain had completely gone.

Really confused by this as the doctor at the hospital told me to expect the PGP pain to continue until end of pregnancy. She referred me to physio but they can’t see me for 7 weeks.

Is it normal for PGP / SDP to suddenly disappear like this? I’m thinking baby might have positioned themselves awkwardly in my pelvis last week and has moved out of that position now? So confused!

Mine was constant from approx 18w with DC1 and approx 10w with DC2 but I did have days where it was more manageable and made me able to do more.

Make sure you keep your legs together (snigger) as much as possible, walk up and down stairs one step at a time (think pensioner shuffle), sleep with a pillow between your knees, don't move things with one foot (boxes etc) and I found that elevating my legs (with knees together) was the most comfortable position. That's a lot of ()!

It could be that your baby has moved slightly and has taken some pressure off the most painful parts. Long may that continue!

Thanks for the advice! Will try and do all of those things. The hospital were kind enough to source me a pelvic band to wear so at least I’ve got something if it returns with a vengeance.

Right hip has started hurting again tonight and have the strangest pulling sensation in my pubic bone region. Hoping and praying that I don’t have a repeat of the last few days but not holding my breath. Enjoying it whilst it lasts though!

One thing I forgot to say is that you can buy support thingies, I got mine from eBay. It's like the sort of thing weight lifters wear and goes all the way around and over / under your bump. I had one that had a plastic 'bone' for the spine and then 2 straps to go over and under. It does sit a bit low down, almost at the top of your thighs / over your pubic bone. I found those the most comfortable
