Hey so I got the call after my GD test that my fasting result was 1 over the threshold but the 2 hour result was normal. So I'm booked in to see the diabetic nurse on Monday.
Just reaching out to other ladies who have been diagnosed with GD? How are you getting on?

I was diagnosed 4 weeks ago and although it's scary it's not the end of the world! My fasting result was the issue too. After 2 weeks I was put on insulin at bedtime for my fasting levels then it was upped because they were still high. (They decided against Metformin as I'm still being sick daily at 32 weeks and it can give you nausea and vomiting)

At my first appointment I was weighed, had bloods taken, saw a diabetic consultant and a diabetic nurse, 2nd appointment was the same apart from no bloods. At my hospital they make sure you see a consultant in the maternity unit straight after or before your diabetic appointments. I've had 1 growth scan and think I'm due a other one at my appointment on Wednesday. I've been told they won't let me go past 40+3/4 but every Trust seems to vary a little bit.

If you can remain diet controlled that's great but needing medication is not the end of the world!

If you're on Facebook take a look at Gestational Diabetes UK mums, it's good for support and info. Just be aware that different people have different tolerances so what might be ok for one person to eat might not be ok for you but you'll be able to see yourself when you start testing.

I hope that helps a bit!
