High Blood Pressure 32w

I’m 32 weeks along, I have high blood pressure when my midwife first takes it so she usually goes in for a second reading when I’ve calmed down a little, we think it’s a bit of “White Coat Syndrome” but I have family history of preeclampsia- my mum had it in all three of her pregnancies, with me she stopped working at 12weeks, and it developed into eclampsia and was hospitalised from about this gestation and induced a couple of weeks later.
I really feel I can lower my blood pressure if I stopped working for a couple of weeks and followed a healthy diet and walked a little or I’d at least like to try it, do you think my gp would sign me off for a fortnight to see if taking away the stress of my job helps my health?
I don’t want my variable blood pressure to be assumed preeclampsia when I have no proteins in my urine or any other symptoms so I’d really like to focus on relaxing and hopefully my blood pressure follows suit.
My work is an hours drive away, I work full time in quite a stressful position which isn’t helped by my new manager asking me what my plans are to cover my maternity leave.
The high blood pressure readings are really stressing me out and I’m on edge looking for all the other symptoms of preeclampsia, is that good enough reason to take time off sick?

If white coat syndrome has been mentioned then it doesnt sound as though they are worried about pre eclampsia at this stage.

There's nothing to stop you trying to eat healthier and walk more. If you genuinely believe the stress from work is physically or mentally making you I'll, then absolutely get signed off. But it sounds as though it's not actually affecting your BP. Just be aware that getting signed off towards the end of your pregnancy can automatically trigger your maternity leave early. Or the other option is to start maternity leave now

They won’t assume high blood pressure is preeclampsia without the protein- this is the key. They can just treat high blood pressure. I had high BP from second trimester which was treated with a close eye kept out for preeclampsia due to family history.
