Leg and ankle swelling - too early?

I'm 17+4 and for the last couple of weeks, I've noticed a bit of lower leg swelling, nothing major but I have fairly skinny ankles (the only skinny part of me!) so it was noticeable to me, really around the sock line, even though I wasnt wearing socks.

Now today I've noticed that my right ankle is puffy and swollen both on the inside and outside of my leg. Just the one, my right leg only.

I read about people saying pre eclampsia signs are usually from 20 weeks and more often much later in pregnancy so I'm just curious if it's normal to have general swelling this early on?

They have already put me on daily aspirin but that's not connected to the swelling. I haven't seen the midwife since that started but have an appointment next Monday.

Better to ask a professional to be honest. However, I had swelling in hands and ankles from about week 4 but never developed pre eclampsia.

This is the information from the NHS about swelling in pregnancy: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/swollen-ankles-feet-pregnant/

Some swelling is normal, especially in warm weather, but if you're in doubt definitely speak to your midwife.

One sided swelling is more likely to be clot or varicose vein related. Go to your doctor urgently

Thanks all. Saw the doctor today who checked my BP and urine and said it was nothing to worry about at this stage. Looks like I'm just going to suffer with a bit of swelling throughout my pregnancy and they have a baseline now from which to monitor changes going forward 🤞
Looks like I'm going to need to learn to love my cankles!
