My heart almost can't take this.

My doctors took a urine test on Tuesday and have told me it's negative today.

Despite me having lots of clear positive tests at home. It's messing with my head and heart to the point I'm completely heartbroken.

I can't go through another loss and now I'm very stressed as I know hug decreases can mean this. I am terrified.

I had urine test with my doctor on Monday, he said it may show as negative on his as his aren't as strong as some home tests. Lucky it showed a faint positive.

My GP never tested as he said the tests at home are much better. Can you re-test at home again today or first thing tomorrow?

megamouse · 18/04/2019 10:36

I'm going to buy more clear blue digital tests

I’d go with first response all day long. I’m married to a GP and never used his tests. They’re notorious for being ‘weak’. I exaggerate. I DID pee on a GP test before. It was negative then came up very faint positive about 10 minutes later. I was 11 weeks pregnant!

Some people swear by the GP strips (which are the cheapies you get online). They didn’t work for me.

If First Response says you’re pregnant, you’re pregnant, in my experience.

NannyPear · 18/04/2019 10:51

Hear it all the time on here that people get positive hpt and then go to the doctor's and it's negative. I wonder if the doctor doesn't count super faint lines like we would? Who knows, but keep the faith! Very rare to get false positives, though false negatives are very common.

WildFlower2019 · 18/04/2019 10:54

I bought the strips online that they apparently use in the nhs.

Took DAYS for them to show a good positive after I had lovely lines on FRERs.

Get yourself another FRER for tomorrow and test again with FMU. If that gives a CLEAR positive, you're pregnant. You don't really get false positives.

How many DPO are you? When is your AF due?

megamouse · 18/04/2019 11:14

Another positive clear blue.

I don't know where you are, OP, but my GP never tested me for pregnancy because they said the home tests were so good that there was no point.

FWIW I took a photo of my positive test so that I could look at it on my phone whenever I doubted my sanity in the early days!

Darkstar4855 · 18/04/2019 14:14

How many weeks are you? The tests that GPs have wouldn’t be sensitive enough to give a positive very early on. Could you have ovulated late?

megamouse · 18/04/2019 14:21

I think I'm 3weeks and 5 days ish

Of course a GP's test won't be positive if you aren't even late yet! Lots of the less sensitive tests won't be positive at that stage!

Why were you at the GP and why were they doing a test?

megamouse · 18/04/2019 14:29

@SoHotADragonRetired because I've had 8 miscarriages. I need to see a doctor and get referred to a recurring miscarriage clinic to get specialist help at the earliest opportunity. As you can imagine I'm eager to get this sorted.
I cannot take any more heartbreak so doing all I can.

OP posts:
Darkstar4855 · 18/04/2019 14:56

At 3+5 I wouldn’t expect a GP test to be positive.

They should be referring you to the recurrent miscarriage clinic anyway once you have had three miscarriages so the fact that your test was negative shouldn’t stop you being referred.

megamouse · 18/04/2019 15:01

I've tried telling them this many times

Update-
A second pregnancy test at my useless doctors surgery came back "inconclusive"

Naturally I ran home to test again and I have this.

I'm safe in the knowledge that I am pregnant. But my god it's really messed with my emotions.

The guidelines for recurrent miscarriage can be found here: www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/gtg17/

If you’re having trouble getting referred it might be worth printing page 6-7 which says about being referred to a specialist recurrent miscarriage clinic for investigation and take it to your next appointment.

Fingers crossed that this one will stick and you won’t need it though Flowers

birdinatree · 23/04/2019 21:45

Congratulations OP!
I agree with you that you need to urgently try and see someone at the recurrent miscarriage clinic, or a consultant as it may be that they would need/want you to start on medication. At the clinic I went to they seemed to put everyone on aspirin as a matter of course and then did further investigations. For two of my friends who went through similar a simple blood test revealed that they needed blood thinners/hormones - which is devastating to think what they went through when they just needed medication! Obviously for many women it's more complex than that but I think I'd want to rule that out in your position. If you can afford it there is of course the option of private treatment which would be quicker?
Congratulations again OP, fingers crossed that all continues well!!

megamouse · 24/04/2019 06:08

@birdinatree I gave an appointment on the 13th May. That's the earliest they can do apparently. Not happy but nothing I can do

MissSmiley · 15/05/2019 17:26

Congratulations, risk of miscarriage reduces massively once you have seen a heartbeat
I'm keeping everything crossed for you
At what stage were your previous losses? So sorry you've had to go through so much
