I kept relatively active throughout my last pregnancy (running/weights/swimming) etc but afterwards still felt like my body wasn't mine and felt really odd when I started to exercise again.

This time Im 14 weeks and probably not as fit due to illness and lack of time but still trying to run 4-5k or do weights. The thing is I'm struggling - even running slowly is bloody hard work and I'm always tired - feel like totally jacking it in. Sorry for the ramble but guess I'm looking for stories of people who preserved - particularly through 2nd or 3rd pregnancies and felt it was worthwhile?!?

Following! Again, I stayed quite active during my first pregnancy, but I'm 13 weeks now and I had only really just got back into the gym before I got pregnant again. Trying to work out how much I can keep doing now.

Hiya! 21 weeks with number 2.

I found i only really got my energy back towarda 16 weeks. Before baby 1 (2 years ago) I swam and did all kinds of classes. Now I am limited by childcare more than anything else. Its the one thing I really really miss about life before kids...

Anyway. I was never a big runner but it was convenient so stuck at it for the first 3 months but like you found it difficult. I ended up doing intervals rather than solid running which helped, but now my bladder kind of pinches and its horrible.

I swam last night after work for the first time in ages. Felt tired and headachey but once in pool felt strong and happy. So from now on I'm going to do as many swims as possible plus strengthening home workouts. (Not cardio more like lunges, squats, pilates). In my child free time I also like to walk as much as possible.

I think a lot is about changing mindset...I used to workout with the motivation to change how I looked. Now Im thinking ok, this keeps me and the baby healthy (according to evidence I've seen). Takes the pressure off a bit.

Me!
I kept active during my first with runs 3-4tomes a week +swimming a lot and then plates and yoga when I couldn't run in the end of second trimester.
Got super fit before ttc again then totally lost it after two mc's then got pregnant again. Didn't do anything for the longest time for fear of mc again and being exhausted. Starting up again in the second trimester and carried on doing weights and hiit more than first pregnancy and some running (hard to find time with a two year old in tow). Did a work out the day I gave birth!
Found it gave me sanity, a little extra energy, and let me power through labour easier. Also bounced back a lot quicker post pregnancy, and was able to start working out two week pp which helped me feel more like me even if it was just ten minutes at first.
I'm now 5 and a half weeks post partum and I'm not back to normal but not far off and managing to do my normal routine when I find the time every day! And I feel much more like me unlike the first time we're I was only more like myself about 9months pp.
Hope my story helped!

I think you're right bobbin - definitely need a switch in mindset. I do feel better when I exercise too so that's a good incentive.

gin - glad I'm not alone!!

I've managed to keep active throughout apart from the first trimester when I was really ill.

I'm now 32 weeks and only just stopped running but i will now power walk. I also do pregnancy yoga. I love exercise as I mentally feel good for going and it is great to keep active.
