Performance related disciplinary in pregnancy

I’m am 13 weeks pregnant and have a heart shaped womb meaning I am experiencing pain due to the way it’s growing.

I work in a nursery and told my employer very early on that I was pregnant as it’s an active role. Since the beginning of my pregnancy I have suffered with theses pains and explained and apologise to my manger on several occasions that I was not my normal self at work and have obviously slowed down. I am now under investigation due to poor performance and my sicknesses record is being held against me. Pretty much all of my sickness is pregnancy related and I even ended up in hospital due to my condition and had an early scan.

I’m just looking for advice really as I have been very honest with my boss and like I say even apologised. I am currently signed of due to the pains but so anxious about work.

Any advice welcome

Thank you

What how much of ur sickness isn’t pregnancy related? You say “pretty much”

I would think a nursery would be a family friendly place! They won’t be able to hold pregnancy related sickness against you- it’s against the law- so please relax and not stress. Stress really isn’t good for the baby

I've no idea how people do this, but maybe this would be better moved over on to the employment board? It sounds a bit like pregnancy related discrimination to me.

Contact your union if you gave one, or ACAS for advice.

yep. Sounds like discrimination to me then. Only 2 days wow

Oh dear, I hope your employers have done your pregnancy risk assessment or they really will be in deep do do when you bring up that and the absence 'issue'. Please don't worry- they should be, though.

It's a good job you're signed off as that will give you time to speak to your union if you have one or ACAS if you don't. Get together any paperwork you've had relating to this 'investigation' and try to make a note of the timeline of what's happened and who you spoke to when, before you call.

Don't let them discriminate against you for being pregnant, OP, after all it's pregnant ladies that will ultimately keep their business going! Good luck and keep us up to date.

There’s a group called pregnant and then screwed who may also be able to help.
