Hi everybody? It would be amazing if I could get some advice on how these pregnancy tests work. I would book a appotment with my GP but with work...I don’t get much time. So yesterday I done 2 pregnancy test both resulting positive. I used the strip test and 2 red strong lines appeared on both test which indicates I’m pregnant right ? Only to find out that actually I could not be pregnant. The day after I brought a pregnancy stick which I prefer to use as they give more of a accurate answer. My results was negative. I do believe I’m not pregnant and I haven’t experienced a misscarrige. So all together I got 2 positives and 1 negative. I know people will say to believe the 2 positives over the negatives but I do not have any symptoms nor am I late on period. I’ve been with my partner for a while and we would love to have a baby. We’ve been trying and no luck, I’m actually afraid that my tubes may be blocked😞 Which is why I’m disappointed in the strip tests and won’t be using them again. I’m going to do one more pregnancy test. It is 9:24am. I’ve heard it is best to do this in the morning. Could anybody kindly explain why I would get 2 clear positives on a strip test and a negative on pregnancy stick? Has anybody else experienced this ? I would really appreciate it if somebody could help me out. Thanks guys !!

Are the strip tests pregnancy tests or OPKs? I think with OPKs the line needs to be at least as dark as the test line for it to be considered a positive. What brand of pregnancy sticks did you use? Try to get a FRER (First Response Early Result) and retest with that one. If you've not missed a period you could still be pregnant although it is rarer. FRER tests don't need first morning urine (first pee of the day) but you could do that if you prefer and if you might be early on in the pregnancy might be a good idea. I found it easier to pee in a pot and then dip the stick in than trying to aim right. Good luck.

Just to say - your negative could be because you used a test that wasn't sensitive enough. FRER are able to detect very low levels of hcg (pregnancy hormone) - as low as 6 mlU/mL whereas other tests only detect 10 mlU/mL so you need to be further along in the pregnancy. Most doctor's surgeries use the less sensitive ones so that wouldn't help. Best to buy a FRER.

You’ve had unprotected sex and 2 positive pregnancy tests and you’re asking if you could be pregnant?

Did you mean you used a digital the second time? If so they're less sensitive than other tests. And did you use your first morning wee each time?

If you are having unprotected sex and have 2 positive tests, then you are very likely pregnant. Most people don't have many symptoms until they are 5 to 6 weeks, and some people never have symptoms at all. I suggest waiting until your period is a week late, testing again and then making an appointment to see your doctor. Good luck.

Photos? I suspect you are pregnant, false positives are rare but false negatives or low strength tests are more likely

Your GP won't test you anyway, they assume that because pregnancy tests are so accurate (when following instructions) and so easy to use they don't need to confirm what you're telling them.
If you're before your period is late, use one that's designed to be used before your period/early. If you're late, any normal test should be accurate but the digitals are notorious for not being very sensitive and pink dye, from what I've read on here, is more reliable. Then make sure you follow the instructions and good luck!
