Pregnancy Test Drama - help!?

So I went to my GP today after having some funny pains in my lower abdomen and server trapped wind (the burping variety) for a few days.

I was diagnosed with an acute UTI but also shown a positive pregnancy test. I was delighted obviously.

My period is due tomorrow / the next few days.

This evening I did a clear blue digital to give myself a clue of how far along I am (in pure excitement) this evening and it said ‘not pregnant’. What on Earth.

I know I’m to believe my doctor that I’m expecting but it’s really disheartening. Has anyone else had this expirence?!

Clearblue aren't very sensitive. Try a FRER to confirm to yourself at home if you want to but leave it a few days before trying another clearblue to allow HCG to build up.

When was your last period? About 4 weeks ago? I assume if your period is due you are about 4 weeks pregnant, congratulations!

Yeah we’re lookong around 3/4 weeks but my last period was a little different so I was wondering if maybe I was further along who knows! I’ve got to phone my GP tomorrow to book in with a midwife service as they run from our clinic so I’m surely the blood tests will confirm everything!

Thank you very much for your help. I’m a first timer so I was very confused! Xox

The clearblue tests really should come with a warning about not showing positives early on because they’re far from sensitive (50mIU/ml compared to 10mIU/ml for FRER!!)

The blood tests you will have with the midwife won’t include a pregnancy test because home pregnancy tests are as accurate (if using the same sensitivity) as GP ones. They test for blood type including Rhesus factor, haemaglobin levels, sickle cell/thalassemia (if you’re the relevant ethnic origin) and things like rubella immunity.

Good luck and, hopefully, a decent pregnancy test will put your mind at rest xx

@Rememberallball that's really informative and extremely helpful! It's so scary being a first timer even things as simple as picking a pregnancy test to do at home with DH is so difficult.

Defiantly a little ball of human in there based on this mornings vomiting 🤮😂 thanks
