Should I be concerned about scan results and midwife conment?

Had an early scan yesterday as Tuesday I had some brown discharge and cramping so go referred to epau.

I was unsure of dates and had 2 possibilities (7 weeks or 5w 6d) but sonographer said it was about 2mm and so less than 6 weeks- so by my estimated dates I would be 5w 6d as I couldn't have ovulated any later.

Heartbeat was seen but a little slow and I'm back next week for a rescan to check the heartbeat has sped up and growth continued. Sonographer and nurse at epau both seemed pretty positive and said it was normal, saw where blood came from and it's generally nothing to worry about (or not baby related).

My booking appointment was today but the midwife called this morning and said she'd seen the results from epau and would I like to put it off until after next weeks scan so I don't go through booking for 'nothing'.

I was ok after yesterday but now I'm panicking, if the midwife thinks booking is potentially pointless is the slow heartbeat a bad sign? Is it actually a lot worse than they said at epau yesterday? Would they book a rescan if the slow heartbeat was normal or could it be because of the possible earlier dates- as in I could have been 7w so checking that it grows by next week to confirm the later dates?

This baby was so wanted and we've been trying for so long i don't think I can handle anything going wrong.

Flowers can understand you’re scared. The point of the early scan is to check viability, not date your pregnancy. So the fact they’ve arranged another does suggest there may be a concern about the viability of the pregnancy. There’s nothing that can be done but wait and see, unfortunately. Good luck.

Thanks @chipperchop I get the viability but am clinging to hope that because lmp would put me at 7 weeks they're wanting to rescan to confirm the later conception is correct and it hasn't just stopped growing iykwim? So if next week it looks like 6+ weeks gestation then it's viable (or more so anyway).

I'm reasonably confident on the dates, most promising OPKs/cm and temps would put me at 5+6 yesterday but with pcos it's hard to be 100% as I never get blazing positive OPKs.

Guessing it's because they usually don't do booking appointment until 8 weeks ...they have seen you are now only 6 weeks so too soon to book in

They will be checking that the baby has grown and heartbeat rate has increased I imagine. Based on what you have said it sounds really hopeful but it could be a bad sign to be at that stage if you were meant to be 7 weeks. I think your midwife is doing the right thing. I went through a booking appointment for a baby I never had due to a missed miscarriage and when I should have been 8 months pregnant a health visitor turned up at my house ready to chat to me about my birth the next month. It was awful as I was doing my best to forget the due date etc.

Good luck xx

I had a slightly similar situation - I had a small amount of bleeding the day of my booking appointment, so the midwife made me an appointment at the EPU the next day and cancelled my booking appointment that was scheduled for later that day. Since this was just from a small amount of bleeding and no scan to give any info one way or the other, maybe it’s just a standard practice to put off booking appointments in situations like this?

Good luck!

@palebluewalls I'd always said I thought conception date put me at the earlier stage, my pcos makes cycle tracking difficult so lmp isn't reliable. Hopefully though a heartbeat now is a good sign... it's pretty early to have seen it.
