Baby lying on bladder or UTI?

I've been suffering for a few days with a constant feeling like I'm desperate for a wee, I've been going every 20 minutes or so when sat up/stood up. I went to my midwife and was tested for a UTI which came back clear. I have no burning or pain like I have in the past with those type of infections, but the feeling like I need to sit constantly on the toilet is similar.

When I lie down, after about 10 minutes the need to pee goes away. It's the only time I get any relief. I still sooort of need it but not to the point I'm rushing to the toilet. Does this mean baby is probably lying on my bladder? As he moves when I lie down? Or do I need to get back to the midwife to test again for a UTI

I've had this for around 16 weeks now; it sucks!! It's baby laying on the bladder.

Baby on bladder I was lucky little guy would
Do it for a few days then move then do it again ... it’s not great wear pads to give you a bit of reassurance just in case... and congratulations x xx

@Anothertempusername Thank you.. I thought as much! Bloody thing!! Grin Have you found a way to get any relief from it?

Um..... to be honest, no! I find laying on my left side helps when in bed as baby is all down my right. Sitting at a proper 90 degree angle seeks to help too. Otherwise I haven't strayed far from a toilet in about 5 months! Being induced on Sat so hopefully that helps Grin

@Anothertempusername Oh no.. I'm only 25 weeks so hopefully he shifts I can't take another 15 weeks of this! Good luck with your induction Grin

@Newmumma83 Thank you! Hopefully I'm lucky and he doesn't stay there constantly. It's a bit embarrassing in work when I'm going to the loo every ten minutes Blush

Im glad I come across this thread! I’m only approaching 17 weeks but on and off I keep getting a slight stinging sensation down there and also feel like I need a wee get no burning like I’ve had in the past with a bad water infection. Am I too early to be experiencing the same thing? At my 16 week appt yesterday they picked up a slight bit of blood in my wee which they have sent off xxxx

Habbs · 11/04/2019 19:50

@Babycakes1989 I'd say if you're getting stinging or blood it's probably more like to be a urine infection? If so it'll just be antibiotics! I'm no expert though obviously Smile

I've been like this the whole way through - not the blood, just the constant peeing. I'm 31 weeks now and still the same. In the scan it's obvious that my urethra is being squished because of the way I'm built and where the baby is. I never manage to entirely empty my bladder - usually there's about 7-8 ml always remaining. I feel it most if I've been sitting a bit and then stand up. I've had multiple UTI checks and cultures grown but I got nothing out of those. That said, if you've not been checked for UTIs you should be.

Eatmycheese · 12/04/2019 01:24

I’ve had both - two of my three babies were keen in squishing my bladder but the first was not and I had a hideous UTI that nearly caused early labour at 24 weeks.
If it is a uti lying down doesn’t make it go away, you will develop a temperature / fever, lower back ache and feel shivery as well as going to the toilet (40 times in one day in my case) then just probably keel over like I did.
But mine was missed as they lost my urine sample.

Drink plenty.
If you are peeing properly and it goes whe. You are lying down plus none of the other symptoms then you might just have a pressurised (even more than normal bladder)
But watch out and be alert if you feel any of the above, they can’t be very serious

It's still unbearable so got checked again this morning, definitely no UTI he's just squishing my bladder 🙈
