25 weeks and struggling today - I've had a bowel movement five times which is very unusual, my legs are horrifically achy (like the way they usually are when I'm due on my period), I have pelvic pain and a lot of pressure down below. I've had excessive discharge (literally soaking through underwear) for the past three days.

I was seen two nights ago at the maternity ward due to concerns and everything was fine. I don't want to phone them up again for it to be nothing. Im seeing my midwife tomorrow morning. Is there anything else this could be rather than pre term labour? Had a bit of a heart attack reading that.

Ring/Go to your local assessment unit. With your symptoms you should be seen.

Mammyofasuperbaby · 11/04/2019 14:28

Ring the hospital. They'd rather check you and everything be fine than leave you.
I don't want to scare you but if you wait and are in labour you could loose your child.
The hospital could potentially stop the labour and if not you need to be in a specialist hospital with an advanced nicu if baby is going to be born soon
You are never wasting their time
Good luck xx

I rang she said it'll be fine and she'll arrange physio for the pelvic pain. Didn't ask to come in. Hope it's nothing.

Does anyone know what this could mean? Just had another bowel movement and six in one day doesn't seem fine despite what the midwife says.

Ring them again and tell them you are concerned and wanted to be assessed.

Jackshouse · 11/04/2019 15:23

If they no then ask for the midwife’s name and say you want the Matron of midwives to ring you back.

Apoiads · 11/04/2019 15:27

I'd be worried about those symptoms and would ask to be assessed.

NotSoThinLizzy · 11/04/2019 15:29

I'd want to be checked that's what my labour started like even if its nothing worth getting looked at

Nobhobs · 11/04/2019 15:52

Rang again she said to just rest and see how I feel tomorrow when I see her but that what I'm describing is normal during pregnancy

He's kicking in the normal places the normal amount. Is that a good sign that it won't be pre term labour? It's too early to be worrying about this!! He's so wee still Sad

The wallet they hand out with maternity notes round here specifically says to trust our instincts and advocate for ourselves until we are satisfied. Your hospital are being a bit weird encouraging you not to go in - they really should be up for checking you over when you’re worried.

Sometimes in medical situations it can help if a man will do the talking. Do you have a man handy who could have a few insistent words with the hospital? (I hate that this can be a thing, but sadly it can.) Or you could try just turning up.

It’s all a bit stressful and inappropriate. They are not treating you in a professional manner.

Sunshinegirl82 · 11/04/2019 16:16

Can you call the hospital or DAU instead of your midwife?

sh13 · 11/04/2019 16:18

My hospital hasn’t been great either they make me feel like I’m in inconvenience when Ive called a couple of times for advice. I got told for pains to try a bath an paracetamol and see if it eases off.
I would be concerned about the amount of discharge only you know what it’s like though ,is it like water ?

BadTigerKitty · 11/04/2019 16:32

Is the ache in your legs coming and going or constant?

If you put your hands on you abdomen, can you feel any tightenings that suggest contractions?

I went into pre term labour at 32 weeks, and in hindsight I was showing signs of early labour for about 12-24 hours before my waters broke. I was very uncomfortable and had awful leg pain. But I had awful leg pain as 'normal' symptom of my spd anyway, so I didn't register it as different.

If you're concerned, go back to the unit and insist on having another assessment.

Jackshouse · 11/04/2019 16:32

Did you ask for the Matron of midwives to ring you back? If not do it now.

Cookit · 11/04/2019 19:43

Can you just show up to the maternity unit again or the day assessment unit? If nothing else, can you just say you’re concerned your waters have broken or are leaking since you said you’re soaking through underwear?
