Eye floaters in vision

Hi everyone,

I'm 14+1 and the other day was sat down watching tv, when all of a sudden I had eye floaters all over my vision. I quickly jumped up as I was alarmed and they quickly disappeared after about 10 seconds.

Today, I've just got them again for about 5 seconds and I'm beginning to really freak out.

I've read online that it's a symptom of pre eclampsia however, my blood pressure is always really good and no protein etc in my urine. I already suffer severe anxiety, and this is really worrying me. Has anyone else experienced this?

Are they dark/grey or are they lights/flashing?

You can go to your GP to get them checked over, or an optician. If you get flashing lights in your vision you should get checked over as soon as you can as these can be a sign of a couple of different conditions.

Dark floaters are usually nothing to worry about but if they come on suddenly and you don't usually have them, it's worth being checked over to put your mind at rest more than anything.

I’ve had floaters for years but they’ve been gradual. Definately get it checked out by opticians asap as it can be a sign that the retina is pulling away from the eye.

I've been getting this a few times with this pregnancy, apparently it's called a visual migraine and pregnancy hormones make it worse. Usually passes within 5/10 mins for me and apparently nothing to worry about but def get checked out if you're concerned at all.

Hi @afternoontwee, I can only describe them as looking like bubbles?

I've always had the little ones like when I look to the sky etc but these came completely random and was right up close to my vision

I get the bright ones that's like a shower of lights in my vission but apparently its something to do with blood pressure dropping.. my mum had high blood pressure and said hers was dark spots in her vission so if they are dark best to get it checked to be on safe side

At the beginning of your pregnancy you should have had blood tests to see if you're high risk of pre-eclampsia. Do you know what those results were? I'm sure they would have informed you if it came back as high risk. Mine did for both my kids. Had it at my first, escaped it with my second.
