Hello,
I'm weighing up Tommy Tippee, MAM and Avent bottles (I plan to breast feed but will want to express). What are people's thoughts? Or any other recommendations?
TIA!

Tommy tippee are crap. Try Mam or nuk but only get one bottle as it may take a while to find some that your baby will accept. Apparently the cheap old style ones are also good.

We didn't bf, but we used Avent bottles. They were recommended to me by a close friend who was bf. We managed to get a starter pack on sale at the time, which did include a breast pump (just in case) and a steriliser.

@DonnaDarko there's an offer on the Pregnancy+ app for the Avent starter set which I'm really tempted to get! But even with the offer it's £150 hence why asking on here before investing!

Mam all day long. They're brilliant

I would echo what a PP said about only getting one bottle initially rather than a whole set if you plan to breastfeed. If you are bottle feeding from the start I don’t think it really matters which you get as that’s all the baby will know and adapt to. BF babies can be very picky with bottles and you my find you have to try a few different brands before you find one they’ll take. In my case my DD rejected tommy tippee and the medela bottle that came with my pump but she took to the avent naturals range immediately. Once i knew she would take that then I bought a set.

Avent are the best ,mam has the best teats tho as these are flat and easier for newborn & esp prem babies , these fit on the avent bottles if they are still the same. Ive had 5 babies always used avent and i will be this time along with breastfeeding.

We've used the MAM self sterilising bottles from day 1 (day 2 and a half actually...)

Might be a good one to consider for convenience, they basically come apart and you sterilise them in the microwave with a bit of water in the bottom so no need for an actual steriliser if you're thinking of maybe just giving the odd bottle of expressed milk/formula here and there and breast feeding the rest of the time. We got a starter set which had a few small bottles, bigger bottle bodies and size 1 and 2 teats

We used Tommy Tippee closer to nature. DD liked them, its easy to get other thongs in the same range ie sippy cups etc and you can just swap out the bottle part. These were the ones we found easiest to get her on to when we were introducing formula.

SickOfThePig · 11/04/2019 11:10

Just to say she hated the medela bottle.

MegCharlotte · 11/04/2019 12:02

Thank you! It sounds like MAM and Avent are favoured, and will bear in mind to try one out before buying lots.

We didn't have any issues at all with tommee tippee, used for 12 months each for 2 children and they took to them perfectly.

The electric steam steriliser lasted for both children and was very easy to use too.

Hi,

We spent a fortune on Tommy Tippee bottles and couldn't use them in the end as baby didn't get on with them! Since purchasing I heard lots of reviews saying they were rubbish, should have done my research!

So one night we had to buy 'emergency' bottles from Sainburys, they were £3/£4 for a pack of three and we've literally used them ever since! And DD is now 6 months old! We then tried Asda's version, again Asda's own brand and similar price and work a treat! We've bought more since as back ups from sainburys/Asda so we have multiples.

Hope this helps! x

MAM bottles all day every day. They self sterilise so there's no bulky steriliser to try and shove in the microwave. They were the only bottle that wouldn't cause DD to vomit after she'd had her formula. Brilliant will be 100% using them for any future DC
