Drinking energy drinks

So I am 16 weeks pregnant and I have been craving a monster energy drink from the beginning. My question is do you think having say half a can of monster or even a small cup will be harmful or should I be fine? I'm getting desperate at this point

There is an upper limit for the amount of caffeine you are recommended and I’m pretty sure those drinks contain caffeine so you will have to calculate how much you are advised to have.

Desperate? Why? They’re grim.
Do you and your baby a favour and break the habit.

Nhs says you can 200mg a day. That’s the equivalent of 600m of monster energy. But the can has warning on saying not suitable for pregnant women.

I've drunk energy drinks pregnant. I literally crave them. I try to just have half the can if a big can or have one of the little ones, and no more caffeine that day and not every day.

I had a shocking craving for red wine in trimester 2. After 2 months of resisting I bought a single serve bottle, had a few sips from a glass and then dashed the rest in the Bolognese sauce. It wasn't the effect I wanted, just the taste. Which is weird because I don't even like red wine!

They usually have a warning, I'll attach a pic of the energy drink I've got now. I wouldn't risk it.

Do you usually drink energy drinks or is it just the craving that's started it?

Thing is, even if you had one mouthful would that not make the craving worse? Would it then make you want more etc?

I wouldn't suggest having any at all tbh but I do understand cravings can be strong.

Maybe you could try doing something every time you think of it?? Keeping busy etc?

The recommendation maximum amount of caffeine is 200mg a day. That’s a 250ml can containing no more then 80mg of caffeine (NHS choices website). Too much caffeine can increase the risk of miscarriage or cause low birthweight so be careful with quantity. Also if you do have an energy drink be careful with other caffeine containing products.

I used to work for monster energy..... I really wouldn’t have it! We used to pour them out and fill the cans with water so it looked like we were drinking them. The higher management really took it seriously when women in the office were pregnant and completely advised them against it.

I am sorry as I know how crap it is when you are craving something!
